Nobody seems to have mentioned two old favourites.,.. "!!!!!!" on Orkney - see,,,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/!!!!!!,_Orkney
(there's another in Shetland). Interestingly the word derives from an Old Norse word meaning small parcel of land. Aye, right...I hope to visit Orkney & send postcards some time soon...
Further the earliest known occurrence of one of the famous 7 "bad" words, see..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_dirty_words
c***, was in "Gropec***lane" in Southwark I think, 12th century. The name has sadly been expunged, but the lanes themselves continue, eg "Magpie Lane" in Oxford, which I remember from my school days..... see

I fear this post may be censored ,, ah well, worth a try eh??
Cheers!!
Artful
PS Regarding Cockup, my favourite Burns poem is "C++k up your Beaver" (no, really.. see

Those familiar with Wainright and the Cumbrian fells will know of the beauty of Great Cockup and Little Cockup - summit cairn
Name has something to do with woodcocks apparently.
Further, on the Balmoral estate (we will not discuss how money was gained to puchase this nor how much tax was being paid in the 19th cent. by that family......) is lofty Lochnagar, 3,789 feet high. (See Charlie's kid's book, the "Old man of Lochnagar"...). The very top is named Cac Càrn Beag, meaning "small cairn of faeces" in Scottish Gaelic. I think there is a Cac Carn Mhor somewhere nearby, meaning large pile of etc etc... see...
