RANT
They annoy the hell out of me. Yesterday in Waterloo it took me 20 Mins to find a working cash machine.
Out of 4 cash machine only 1 was working and that had no paper or £10 notes in it

I'm with you - drives me mad too. And annoyingly (for everyone else I'm sure) I can never be bothered to try and find out who 'owns' the machine to fix/fill it. I tried to get money out on the way to a car boot sale on sunday and the one machine that's on the way didn't have £10 notes, only £20s, which was no good

I really HATE that feeling - finally finding a cash point only to find the blinking thing ain't working. monumentally frustrating.
Oh well, what can ya do!0 -
Also the law which dictates that by the time you walk the 20 yards to a vacant machine, 3 people will get there in front of you.0

Or you join 1 with a queue and spend 15 minutes waiting and when you get to the machine its out of money.0

A very good point also to be added to my pointless rant.Iva started Dec 2018.0 -
Just don't look for a cash machine in central manchester on a Sunday morning. They have as little cash in them as my bank account. even less on occasions.0

I'd add to this rant areas that don't have any cash machines which let you withdraw your money without giving a large cut to the cash machine operator. I've recently moved and the only one in walking distance (near the local shops) charges £1.75. I've got about £1 in my wallet and am going to have to start withdrawing £200 at a time in order to not risk running short and not be able to find a proper cash machine without having to specifically drive to it.0

I have an addition also.
There are 5 cashpoints next to my local pub but the closest is a Santander machine.
It frequently takes your card and lets you put the pin number in, choose your withdrawel amount then it tells you it don't have cash. It only does this to bank cards that are not Santander. I think it conserves its cash for Santander customers when it starts to get low.
Its even had cheek to say declined by your bank a few times. I walk to one of the other four which are 30 seconds away and have no issues.
Maybe they are trying to keep me fit!0 -
Most cash machines are on a broadband/ISDN connection so if they are low on notes, empty or faulty then they normally send a report to their control centre.
What annoys me are bank staff who can see queues of customers at the cash machines and still take the machine out of service. The man without a signature.0 -
The ATM at Park lane in Sunderland never has money in at 8.00 when I'm on my way to work, means I have to run to the Bridges and back before I miss my connecting bus.If at first you don't succeed, maybe bomb disposal isn't the best career choice.0
