iRobot Roomba too good to be true?

My Roomba is ill and I am having withdrawal symptoms! It will cost £139 to be repaired and I found this on eBay.

I'm a bit new to all this. If the thing doesn't work or there is something wrong with it, what comeback do I have? Would I have to pay to return it? It's in Hong Kong! She has good feedback for the most part, but none on this item.

I hope it's OK to post a question like this on this forum.

If it's a branded product from Hong Kong then it's almost certainly a fake, esp at a "too-good-to-be-true" price. If it's no good then you would have to return it to get your money back - which as you point out, would be to Hong Kong (and would have to be tracked to prove delivery).

This particular seller has 2 recent negs for "item not as described". Personally - I wouldn't.

Thank you very much indeed. That's my own feeling too. Have almost decided to go with John Lewis. It costs more but you can buy a five year warranty and given how often these little beasts go wrong, I think it will be worth it. (I don't normally do warranties.)

Thank you for taking the time to help.
  • yes that is almost definately not right, try google shopping, sometimes you find a bargain with as good service as the high street brands

Do these things actually work? I always thought that they were more of a novelty item, before I saw how much they cost.

1000% Fake! Scammers are out in their fullest. Be careful. Good deals for a repair or a new Roomba are out there. If you need help just let me know.

  • Please do not get this. It seems to be one of many people selling from Hong Kong who all joined in April.

They seem to sell very small cheap items which are all delivered to get a 100% feedback

Then they hit with the bigger more expensive items and ALL of them end within minutes of each other and they have unlimited quantities of them!

What you will be sent is either a cord bracelet, an sd card or a scart lead or a phone charm.

This happened to me thankfully my item cost £13.50 not hundreds. See my post https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3421855

Happend to me before when I just started out repairing these robots. I was scammed £600! They sent me a shoe! Back then I was stupid to pay via western union! Well...Im more alert of any scammer. One one seller, I know of so far, in Hong Kong sell these Roombas but they are expensive.
