My contract with 3 ends on 20th August. I'm planning on moving over to 02 PAYG and want to transfer my number too. I know that I need to phone 3 for my PAC number - can I do this now and use it immediately or do I need to actually wait until 20th August?
Many thanks

You have to give 3 thirty days notice, so if you write today by the time it gets to India from Edinburgh you will be paying 3 upto about the 6th September from experience. You can use the PAC code at anytime once you receive it but 3 will still charge you up to the end of the months notice as received in India.0

Thanks for your help.
I phone 3 earlier today and requested my PAC. I was told it would be sent to me by text message. Does anyone know how long this will take?

Sorry to hijack this thread. I will be at the end of my contract with o2 on or about 20 September and want to move over to giffgaff.
In terms of timing, should I call up a month before the end of my contract to notify that I do not want to continue and then, perhaps a week before the end of my contract with o2, call o2 to get my PAC code?
I'm thinking I don't want to get my PAC code at the same time as giving notice that I do not want to continue because I do not want the PAC code to expire - if that makes sense.0 -
Call on the 20th of Aug.
Give them a notice and request the PAC.
Give the PAC to giffgaff about on the 13th-15th of Sep.
OR
Give a notice on the 20th of Aug and ask to switch you to PAYG starting from the 20th of Sep.
Ask for PAC on the 21st of Sep an use it within 30 days.0 -
Will giffgaff be able to use the code on 13 Sept? I'll still technically be in my contract. And what will happen to my o2 service between giving the code to giffgaff and my contract officially ending?
What if I give notice on 20 Aug, ask to switch to PAYG, then on 10 Sep call up and ask for my PAC code? Then give PAC code to giffgaff on 20 Sep? Will that be okay?0 -
You could do that but it doesnt really matter that your on contract because you will still be paying 02 until the end of the month even though you will not be using it for a few days.
I made transfer from 3 to giffgiff was done in 48 hours I think the phone number works on both networks for a while.0 -
