HBOS Reward account.

Contacted HBOS today and was informed I could upgrade my account to the reward account where I would recieve £5 for having £1000 paid in monthly.
This works well with my salary of £1029 going in the last working day of the month.
Can anyone tell me if they have had any problem switching? I would assume I keep the same sort code/account number and wouldn't have to inform my payroll dept or change any direct debits?
Any help would be much appreciated. I plan on putting the £5 reward into an ISA.

I wouldn't even call it switching it's so simple. Basically they change the account type, everything else stays the same, you get £5, everyone's happy.Anything I post is my opinion, so from time to time I may be wrong. I try to provide answers based in fact, however I don't know everything, so (like all posters on MSE), take what I say with a pinch of salt.0

It depends what type of account you have at the moment. If you have a Current Account, then you can't upgrade online - easiest way to do it is by phone. You'll keep the same sort code/account number/cheque book/direct debits etc.
If you have a Cardcash/Easycash then you'll need to apply for a new account, which can be done online. This will give you a new sort code & account number, so you'll need to move DDs across to the new account.0 -
Hi,
I have a Current Account, I started doing it online then thought it would be easier to just call so 7 mins later its sorted. 24hours and i'll be using the reward account although the £5 won't be credited till next month as the £1000 wont be in my account now untill 31st. Nice to get a little extra money for not doing anything different though! Gonna put it in an ISA

Doing it online you can only upgrade to the Ultimate Reward Account, so you would have been in for a surprise100% G33K:D:D:D:D

You should get a new debit card tooDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0

Oh, I would have thought that as the Reward debit card is different to the normal current account card, they'd at least send a new one out. I'd ask for a replacement card in that case then OP, I personally think the Reward card is nicer than the standard oneDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0

Ok I might ring later in the week and ask for a new card, but I don't want to have to change my paypal/amazon accounts etc. If they send me a new one then thats fine.0
