Evening all, having a little glass of vino and winding down after a very carp week at work. I finish next Friday for 3 weeks and can't wait, the way I'm feeling I might never go back! I will really but it has just be a lousy week.

Hope everyone is keeping well and relaxing over the weekend.

  • Hi everyone,

I've been lurking for a few months now as RL has got in the way. The biggest news for me is that two weeks ago yesterday, my grandma paid for me to have my eyes lasered! :j She decided I'd be better off having that done than a lump sum for an inheritance when she's gone. For anyone who's considering having it done and has the money, go for it. It's amazing, I don't know how I did without. Seriously, don't put it off, it's not as bad as you think, Ibuprofen and Paracetamol at once and it feels like a mild headache behind your eyes. Have someone to take you home though, you won't be able to open your eyes at all 20 mins after it's done, that's the scariest bit! But after 2 hours sleep, the pain was all gone. I wore sunglasses none stop the first evening and couldn't open the curtains but the light sensitivity wears off in a few days. I have 20/20 vision in each eye individually and slightly better combined and I'm cleared to drive. Though I still don't have my car back from the garage yet.

And considering my other news, I think my grandma's got a point. I obviously can't be trusted with lump sums. In Sept of last year, I used a load of different savings that matured on my 21st birthday to pay off my debts. My family didn't know that, everyone bar my boyfriend thinks that money's in my ISA. I was finally debt free but did I budget? Of course not, this is me we're talking about. Why the h*ll would I do anything so sensible? So one thing lead to another, the college demanded £300+ for a course I never finished, I decided to shift my car insurance to a cc (a good idea actually, I wish I'd done that sooner as I was paying monthly before) and I'm back in the same mess again. See my signature for details. But I'm determined to change as soon as I move in with my boyfriend at the start of next month. I even did a SOA! So yeah, I guess I'm back trekking the DFW trail again. If you'll have me, that is. :o

    Hello you! :hello:

The important thing is that you've discovered it early and you're tackling it early.

Go to Hypno's diary for hint & tips on how to stay debt free once having become debt free. Just try not to be so scarily efficient... ;)

Ghostmad, just keep chipping away you'll get there. At least you have acknowledged it before it gets out of hand. Good luck.

As Z says at least you are aware of it now & are dealing with it.
On the eye lasering I have a totally different prespective and wouldent have it done if you paid me.
Im glad you are happy with it though.
Have you finished at uni now?
