Cancelled my Virgin phone rolling contract - can I receive calls still?
I signed up about 7 months ago for their rolling sim only deal of £10 pounds per month. However, my bill was always around £15.
When I started to have problems with EDF Energy, my bills skyrocked and recently I have seen bills around £25. This was after I downgraded the phone package to the £8.50 deal. I only ever seem to phone customer support services or phone landlines for brief periods.
I tried the 0800 busters and similar services but they didn't seem to work.
OK - now to the point. I have cancelled my Virgin direct debit as it is just amounting to silly money that I don't have. I am going back to a PAYG service with GiffGaff. With voip services I should be able to go back to the days of making my money last much longer.
In the meantime, will I be able to receive incoming calls to my Virgin line? I intend to obtain my PAC code and transfer it over to the GiffGaff network asap but need to get an unlocked handset that will accept O2 sims.

Although you have cancelled your Virgin direct debit, have you actually cancelled the rolling SIM only contract ?
If you have not cancelled the contract, you will still get billed each month. If you call and request a PAC code from Virgin, as soon as the PAC is used, it will cancel your contract and you will then be free to get a SIM with Giffgaff and transfer your number using the PAC code.
If you have cancelled your direct debit with Virgin without contacting them, you may find that you will be flagged up as a risk, and it may be worth contacting them to let them know that any future bills will be made by an alternative method.
Although it is a rolling contract, you will still have to give 30 days notice which will start as soon as you use the PAC code and this will be chargeable. You will receive one final bill for the 30 days notice, including any outstanding charges from Virgin.
Do make sure the final bill is paid on time, the last thing you would want would be a default on your credit file.
Until your number transfers over to Giffgaff, you will still be able to make and receive calls. As soon as your Virgin SIM shows as 'inactive', your number should be with Giffgaff.0
