Hi guys, I know this has been a recurring subject, but I would like to know if Talk Talk is relatively safer to use now... And also, could someone point me towards the best way to deal with them if there is a problem? Thank you in advance!

I would strongly advise that before you sign up, tell them of your requirements ask when they can DELIVER all of them, in writing.
Subject to your satisfaction with their written answers go ahead.
Since they settled my small claims court case I have had no problems.0 -
My brother and a colleague I spoke to today both lost their phone service when they transferred their broadband to Talk Talk.
It's still not working smoothly for everyone, and I'm still holding off transferring until it does.0 -
Ive been with Talk Talk Broadband prior to their "free" offer and I can honestly say ive had no problems.
I am however changing to Telewest as I have had a good offer with a better speed at half the price.0 -
For my first month with talk talk everything went brilliantly, the broadband was running at 7.8mbps and I even posted on here how happy I was with them. Unfortunately I tempted fate !!!! first week in Dec my broadband died (flashing ADSL light) and no connection.
Since then I have spent approx. 5 hours on the phone to India, South America and several call centres in the UK, I have been promised call backs but never got them, I was promised that OPAL the network provider would call, nothing, I have been promised that it will be sorted in 24-48 hours on about 6 occasions, I have been hung up on by call center staff on at least TWELVE occasions, (I am NEVER rude and am always polite and softly spoken) I have had no broadband for almost a month now and am at my wits end, I can honestly say that I have never ever ever ever ever ever dealt with such an incompetent, uncaring unprofessional unfriendly and untruthful company in my entire 41 years on this planet. I intend to sue them for the financial cost of having to use dial up, breach of contract and for the stress of not been able to have my usual Christmas video chat with my family and the fact that I have had to spend so many hours calling them up to chase the issue. I am dreading tomorrow when I have to start calling them all over again and explaining everything again and again, especially when I know that I will be told "it will be sorted within 24-48 hours sir" and that in all likelihood I will not have broadband back before Feb. if I am lucky that is !

ok
might be better for me to pay BT 11 pounds for just line rental (i just think this is a rip-off), get an over ride operator for my international calls, and get madasafish for broadband...
are madasafish reliable enough? the reasons why I would be taking broadband would be to work from home and for leisure too, but working from home is quite strong in my decision.
thx in advance."Don't cry, Don't Raise your Eye

I have been with Madasafish (MAAF) since July and have had no problems.
Waitrose use them for their internet services.
Samara (MAAF Customer Care) , the Madasafish rep can be found on this thread:

They also offer their own phone service, however some have said its no cheaper. But if you rarely ever use the phone the line rental is £9.99, instead of £11 with BT.
Don't forget to enter the code "CHEAPER" when signing up as you get £1 off a month for a year.0 -

Oh dear sounds like we are in exactly the same boat. I am at my wits end. I was feeling quite smug as well initially as everything was fine with the service.I was surfing the web three weeks ago and suddenly lost connection. I have been on the phone pretty much non stop since. I have re-installed new drivers on my modem and still nothing, I have reinstalled the CD etc... checked microfilters and being passed around their joke technical support is fast becoming a nightmare.
I'm sure there are lots of others affected by this. This must surely be a case for Watchdog and the National press?0 -
Spent about two hours on the phone to them yesterday, Jo/bourg, Mombai, etc etc. Eventually I said to the chap in South America that I would be taking legal action after I took his name and location etc (Yes I know it's not his fault but I was tearing my hair out) I also said I had just got hold of Mr. Dunstone's private number and would be calling him !!
Came home from work late last night to find broadband was working again (sort of) it was at 512kbps. Called the tech help again to be told they would ring me back. I refused to finish the call and pointed out that I had had enough, I have wasted hours and hours of my Christmas holidays trying to get it sorted.
After almost an hour and talking to four people on three continents I had a kid in South Africa tell me that my line could not cope with more than 512kbps and he refused to believe me that it ran for a year with wanadoo at 7.4 and for two months with talk talk at 7.8. After I (again) threatened legal action he checked again and said well OK I'll up it to 5mbps but that's it !!! What the....
I am sorry for the rant but as you can probably tell this has consumed me for three weeks now. Suffice to say IF YOU ARE READING THIS AND ARE CONSIDERING SIGNING UP TO TALK TALK DO NOT DO ITI SAID DO NOT DO ITEducation is compulsory, school is not.

Personally, no problems after 6 months of telephone and 4 months of broadband. Excellent customer service, particularly so as I'm partially sighted (which in my eyes would induce a higher risk of problems arising).
You've got to look at both sides of the picture. Many people tell me I'm just 'the lucky one' that I don't have problems when everyone else does. That may or may not be true, I don't know. All I can advise you to do is to go for it based on my own experiences.
If something does go wrong, there are e-mail address of the head offices on the net and on here, and people had fast responses from them. Like any company, there will be incompetents lurking about, that's a given. But having played with Talktalk's services I have nothing to complain about.Know me for who I am, not for who I say I am.0
