Id take the money and make my own using the popping corn you can get,0

just report it to trading standards via consumer direct.
they wil ldecide whether to take it further or not depending on whetehr or not it is a common issue with that store or ocmpany
it will only take a few minutes of your time.
just keep a record of when you bought it and maybe a coupel of pics if you still have the item.0 -
Who by and under what legislation?
Best before dates refer to quality (as ops found out) and has no health and safety impact.
I would accept the tenner and ask them to psot it to me

The op said the date was... he did not stipulate it was a sell by date, I would question whether popcorn would have a sell by and a use by, surely as dried goods it would just have the one date0 -
I'd be happy with the £10. A couple of days ago I knowingly made and ate popcorn from kernels with a best before of early 2009.0

Did this happen because the product was out of date and 'dangerous' erm, not too sure either. Would you take the matter further? Need some advice please!!
From my experience with them, that happens regardless of the date because those microwave popcorn things aren't very good.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
When you microwave popcorn you can't just switch it on for 2-3 mins and leave it. I use the stuff from Tesco and it's usually very good but you have to watch it all the time it's cooking or it will catch fire. You need to listen to the popping carefully, it rarely takes the amount of time stated on the packet, it's usually cooked before then. Mybe you just left it on for too long ?0

Take the tenner...and buy some popping corn kernels! A couple of quid will get you so much you'll be sick of popcorn long before you finish them. Frying pan with a lid, no butter, keep your eye on it, keep aggitating, and in a few minutes it is ready to salt, and VERY low-fat toboot, much lower than prepackaged.0

@meer53 - if you read my original post, it was taken out after 1min 30secs so it wasn't left in too long.
Thanks for your advice guys, its more to do with the fact that this product is over 13 months out of date, which I think is pretty bad for a large company like Tesco but it seems its a regular problem looking at some of the other posts.
Will take the tenner and leave it at that.0
