Inspired by tifosi, thought it would be interesting to see how complaints are being dealt with by the Co-Op bank.

    Hiya Doc

    Thanks for the acknowledgment!

I was trying to keep it only to the banks that are covered by the FSA extension as they are required by the extension terms to deal with claims in strict order, and I was hoping for us to prove they arent

Co Op aren't affected by the extension as they did not take part in the JR, and so are still governed by the standard 8 week timeline

    :)

Actually, I think the CoOp might be affected after all: http://www.co-operativebank.co.uk/servlet/Satellite/1304665649735,CFSweb/Page/CFSCtplStandard?WT.svl=footer#q3jump

    This is from their website:
For all PPI complaints received between 19th May and 31st August 2011, we will be working to a 16-week resolution period.
For PPI complaints received between 1st September and 31st December 2011, we will work to a 12-week resolution period.
For all new PPI complaints received after 1st January 2012 we will revert to the standard 8-week resolution period.

I have one with these guys as well

    Sent 01/06/2011
    Acknowladgedn13/06/2011
Update letter advising notification date 27/07/2011
Latest Notification date according to letter 29/09/2011

I had a 'heated' discussion with some one on the phone there about them telling me that they were included in the 16 week deadline- I even mentioned the FSA website not stating they were invloved and requested they provide proof of this. Nothing yet from the, yet.

I get the words band wagon and jumping on comeing to mind???

Think a phone to call to the FSA might be in order to make sure they are being as 'open' and 'honest' and 'fair' as they claim on all the paperwork.

Has anyone else had a letter stating they are within the 16 week ruleing?

We started on 26th October 2010 and heard late last week from FOS that Co-Operative bank are willing to make an offer as a gesture of goodwill, with no admission of liability to settle the complaint. That the compensation will be in line with FOS approach.
If we do not respond within 14 days to FOS they will assume we accept the offer (we have asked them to accept before this time) and then the bank will take a further 8 weeks to calculate the balance - so it will be a year more or less from initial complaint to receiving settlement.
