  • i say no dont do it! we have them and i hate them! a lot of work though taking them down re plastering etc!
    mummy to 3 monsters!
    trying to money save, but spot too many bargains on here!!

    The point of a dado rail is that it protects the wall from the chair backs that may brush against the wall, this is why a dado rail is set the same height at the top of a chair back.

    Do you have any hard back chairs?

    If you don't then its purely decorative.

    Period designs can be various mouldings, or more modern styles just a simple square profile with pencil round.

    Oh please spare any future house owners with taste the hassle of removing them and re plastering every room in the house as we've had to do! Lovely in a period home but in a modern house leave it back in the 1980's with the sticky floral Borders and matching curtains!

    I'm removing all mine as I redecorate. Good for collecting dust, but that's about it.

    Besides I can never keep a straight face when I think about them

  • Dadoes are really use ful if you have small children you only need to decorate half the room when cryons become wall art lol
