I've sent my email to Watchdog claiming an Act of Fraud has been committed as well as the disgusting time it takes for the banks to payout, noting that Clydesdale were able to pay out two days after receiving the acceptance form.
Thanks to all the competition posters.

  • June 2009 SAR to MINT - two more letters before compliance
January 2010 PPI complaint to MINT and refund requested
January 2010 - April 2010 - letters back and forth
    April 2010 Rejected by MINT
    June 2010 Referred to FOS
June 2011 Upheld by FOS - told MINT would send amount within 8 weeks with cheque to follow. MINT want to settle a straight refund/interest/8% route and not follow FOS redress. Accept. FOS say I can take it back to them if I'm not happy with amount offered.
June - Oct 2011 - Nothing. FOS keep chasing MINT, MINT keep making excuses
October 2011 - MINT tell FOS amount will be confirmed this week and say they really don't know why it hasn't already been sorted. Lo and behold letter arrives, veh veh excited! But no settlement details, it just says they expect to meet their 8 week response time but this may be extended by up to another 4 weeks in complicated cases (mine's not complicated! It's already been 20 weeks!) Letter confirms interest still accruing and will paid up to settlement date and apparently the FOS aware of the delay, reasons behind it and are being kept informed (nonsense!) and every effort is being made to expedite payment (more nonsense!)

    They're rubbish!

  • Update on RBS/MINT

Chased FOS to chase MINT again as I still haven't received any figures from MINT following the FOS upholding my complaint 5 months ago. Discovered that my adjudicator has left the FOS since I last spoke to him two weeks ago and my case has been deemed closed. The FOS have now admitted that was a mistake as they can see from their records that it's ongoing. However it now has to be re-allocated to the next adjudicator who becomes free and they have no idea how long this could take. Unbelievable.

So I've spent all morning trying to get through to RBS myself to chase letter/figures/payment/anything and have found out that they too think the matter is closed. According to them they had already 'refunded' the money to me when they sent out their 'we are suffering delays' letter a couple of weeks ago and that letter was a system error. They've also admitted they've blindly refunded this money without sending out details of the amount or their calculations, despite saying they would and the FOS chasing them for the breakdown. And the figure they are claiming to have refunded is incorrect but they are now asking me to send them copies of statements so they can re-calculate the correct amount as apparently they don't have paperwork going back that far, even though they did when I put in my complaint and when it was upheld. The best bit is that they've refunded this incorrect amount to a credit card which has had a zero balance for some time and they hadn't realised. So after more than 2 years, a judicial review and and 'upheld' 'from the FOS I now have no adjudicator, no figures and an inaccessible partial refund. So close and yet so far..........
