When people leave education, the idea is tthey give you money for their keep, not the other way round
but he has no money to give and child benfit .. is for the benfit of the child is it not ... in this situation im sure the mum would spend more then just £20 keeping him but if he had to feed himself etc then it owuld put less of a strain on mums finances but also make him want to get a job

    Such a depressing attitude :undecided

How long has he been looking for a job, ow was it an automatic move from apprentice to JSA??

whats he planning to do now .. surely you should treat him like the adult he is , give him the £20 a week and he can live off that because he will only get another £17 more on jsa .
You need to teach him how diffficult life will be if he doesn't get some work

LOL, my son would NOT get the CB - I'd be expecting him to pay his way! If he couldn't get JSA or paid employment then the £20 a week would go some way to him contributing.

What about his share of utilities and all the shared household food though? If the OP gives him the CB she'll have no money going towards his keep and he'll have £20 pocket money!

But then what he gets is a free ride till september then come september say he does not get jsa then and he decides not to get a job then .. what happens now .

its only a suggestion but im suggesting is that out of the 20 he has to pay for everything himself , including food transport and washing etc

i appreciate what your saying though

I would withdraw it, give it to him then take it right back and say its for his keep!
