The question may ask about "convictions", but that will be defined to include points etc.

eg. this is from Direct Line's on line quote application form:
Details of convictions should include fixed penalty points and disqualifications

Strictly speaking an SP30 is a motoring offence endorsement not a conviction. A motoring conviction as such is one where you've had to go to court and thus be "convicted" of an offence. I suppose it depends on how the question is asked on the insurance form, most will ask for all motoring "offences" commited within 5 years of which you declare your SP30.

My bad. The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act actually speaks about sentences. In this case sentences which are fines last 5 years.
A fine or any other sentence subject to rehabilitation under this Act, not being a sentence to which Table B below or any of subsections (3) [F26, (4A)] to (8) below applies. Five years

I have two SP30's...both fixed penalty, 3 points each, £60 fine each, didn't contest them, posted fines, no court appearances, one was 4 years ago, one was 1 year ago

My question is...are these considered as "convictions " for car insurance purposes?
