Not a nutter, a little eccentric perhaps, but a spendthrift I am not.

Going to the small claims court costs very little, my last two outings have cost me nothing at all. And I got my money back.

Are you familiar with the term "loss of bargain", well, I went after an Amazon partner after they cancelled a contract, (having taken my money), for a very well priced TV. They were extremely hard nosed until I issued a money claim. On receipt of the summons they sent a cheque for all I was claiming, plus court fees. If you have a good case, and you issue a summons, a wise man will realise that the game is up, and pay you to go away.

I look upon the time I spend reading the law and composing letters as a leisure activity, brain exercise if you wish. If I did not keep mentally agile I would probably sink into an armchair and watch Clarkson, an alternative too grizzley to contemplate.

blimey, between the original thread and this one, what a poor attitude! without being so rude, you'd get sympathy and help. just being so abrasive has admittedly, made this very amusing to read, but also makes me hope the seller wins any legal challenge!

So, because you find assertiveness uncomfortable, you support those you would sell you goods which might kill your children, and applaud dodgy traders who would seek to rip you off.

Have you considered that you might have misunderstood the raison d'etre of MSE?

Have you considered they may doing it for the principle, not the money?

If I'd bought a product, only to find out it was faulty and illegal, I'd be annoyed. If I was then refused a refund and found out they were still selling the dengerous product I'd be seriously !!!!ed off.

At that point I'd love to have the time and money to make life as difficult as possible for the seller.

sorry, just to clarify, i don't think you're being assertive; i think you're being rude and condescending. i think the point of MSE is about people helping each other, not reacting badly to people on multiple boards who dare to ask any questions of you. it's quite a juvenile response, which you are attempting to make better by your use of language. it's just not helping your cause.

    HTH :)

Yes, I can see that you do, which is why I think that you are posting on the wrong board.

Dealing with dishonest traders, fighting for ones statutory rights, cutting through the weasel words of the adverisers, avoiding the rip offs, are not for the faint hearted.

The banks, insurance companies, Public Services, even Town Halls are not charities, they will exploit you at every opportunity.
Being "nice" just does not cut it.

As for MSE being here to help people, yes, in a way, but offering erroneous advice, misinterpreting the law, and suggesting action which has already been taken, or is unfeasible, is not helping, they just annoy.

oh dear.... ripping apart grammar..... glad you feel clever and big and better than everyone else. i'm sure that this attitude will serve you well in all your interactions with people in life! keep playing the same record of how you know more than everyone else about everything (not sure why you'd even post to ask for help - maybe you just wanted a pat on the back?!) and you'll go far ;)

(off to add to ignore list!)
