Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday, 30th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning Peeps.

The sun is shining brightly here at the moment and is due to last the weekend :)
So the washing is out on the line. I pegged it out barefoot and in my peejays. It felt so fresh and holidayish - yaaay:)

Dinner tonight will involve a starter as we are having guests. We will start with prawns with garlic & herb dressing followed by lasagne with hg salad (leaves, tomatoes, cucumber, peppers, onions). Will make up a cheese board for afterwards and decide on a desert - mind is a blank at the moment.

Need to attack the CHAOSyndrome - big time!!!!

Have a happy Saturday folks. Hugs and spoons as needed x
Cheers m'dears, Silver x

Morning Silver and those that follow :D

Sunny here :D Been up since 6am with DD, DS stayed the night at grannies house ;) DD was most put out :rotfl:
Plans for today are to take library books back. This requires me to wait at customer services as I have rather stupidly lost my library card  This goes with my loss of my Boots Advantage card. The second repacement :o Can you tell I have a problem with cards :rotfl:

Have then got to cut out some more high viz vests, neice and nephew are coming round to play at some point, need to get some baking......am feeling the deprivation for something nice in the house
Bit disappointed there won't be Royal Wedding on TV :o I fancy another wedding :o :rotfl:

Tea will be pizza probably :)

Hugs and spoons all round. Have a great day OS or not.

    Morning
Just about to start loading the car up to go to the cottage in N yorks for a week.....taking the whole house as usual;) due to DS and feel exhausted from the planning of what we are doing each day, what we are eating each day, ordering the food, finding out what colour the toilets are in each place we are going:p
Looking forward to hol though and hoping to eat out once during it so I am not cooking every single night.
Fatcat going to "cat hotel" this morning too so has a face on with us:rotfl:. We are having to take her cardboard box with her that she likes to sit/sleep in even though she has a proper bed....how embarrasing:o
Will try to look in at what is going on every so often but it is quite remote and signal not great.
    Have good days all!

    Morning everyone

Overcast here this morning, hopefully the sun will get out later. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Had a nice lie-in, slept until 7.45am unheard of for me so obviously I needed it!

Have a few jobs to do today, going to make a lemon drizzle cake to use up a lemon that otherwise would go in the bin, also want to make some chocolate brownies but am a bit cross because I specifically looked for baking paper when I did the shopping yesterday and bought what I thought was baking paper it turns out to be tin foil - some kind soul had put it back in the wrong place, my own fault for not checking though!! :o

Dinner last night was delicious gammon, egg, onion sauce, potatoes and veg, ice cream for dessert. Will be stripping our bed shortly and putting that in the wash, hopefully bedding will dry on the line. I'll be getting the boys a cooked lunch today so then I can send them out with DH later with a picnic - going to get some "me time" later - not sure what I'm going to do but will think of something, probably be on pc doing letters for the holiday rally we're running next year. Need to start getting that organised. :)

    Have a good Saturday everyone.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    Good morning,

I made pasta bake last night, and my friend called so she had some of it too. I still had two portions for the freezer.

I'm going out with my friend this morning to choose a 21st present for her grandaughter, then when I come home I have the ironing to tackle. I cleaned the kitchen yesterday, so that is still alright. The rest of downstairs could do with the hoover pushing round it. My friend has given me a "to do" pad - her husband is a printer so he was making trial pads before a job went on a proper print run. The house elf is doing his own list. Item number one is "be cute". Little pest!

Dinner tonight will just be a rice/salad thing to poke into mini pitta breads. The house elf will have something else. As long as it's a fairly healthy choice I don't mind that he doesn't eat what I do. I am after all trying to lose weight and he is nearly 7, weighs 3 stone and you can see his ribs. Last night he had mashed potatoes and cheesy baked beans.

NPM enjoy your holiday. I would take a "packed lunch" for Noah if you're planning to eat out. That way if he doesn't like what he's ordered he will still have something to eat. The house elf and I had a picnic on Monday, and kept a very close eye on the seagulls after Noah's unfortunate experience.

    Take care all of you

    Morning all
Babysat til midnight last night for DD2, DD1 came with me as we'd planned to meet up anyway. DGC's slept right through, so DD & I nattered & pigged out as I took some nibbles with me, olives, hummus, couscous salad & chocolate cupcakes, we were stuffed & left the cupcakes for the childen.
Plans for today include washing as it it sunny, I shan't blitz another room today, I shall spend time pottering with hubby.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning All

    Happy Birthday Anniestar!:bdaycake:

Went to Edinburgh last night for DDs birthday, met up with DS2 and GF and it was good fun. Went to a place called Mum's where you get good traditional home cooking, we all had pies! They were the biggest I have ever seen and absolutely delicious. Total bill for 4 including drinks was £41, not bad for the centre of town. Edinburgh was heaving, the Meadows were full of folk having picnics and drinks and everyone in a very good mood. Walked back to his flat and on the way passed a bakery that was baking rolls, bread, etc for the hotels and shops of the city so I asked it they sold to the public (it just looks like a shop front and you can see them all working away). They dont but gave us a voucher for their shop across the road that is opening today so DS2 and GF (and probably the rest of the flat folk) will be going down for their free glass of wine and cakes this lunchtime.

stripped the beds this morning so that should be dry for going back on later, cleaned 2 of the bathrooms and will have a hoover round later. Trying to get stuff sorted for going away on Monday - still have to get some shopping in so that DD doesn't starve! Also going to finish the painting before it rains tomorrow.

Have a good holiday NPM, I'm sure your planning will mean you all have a great break.

Enjoy your weekends, take care. XX
