Carphone Warehouse Phone care insurance help

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone's had any experience of claiming with CPW phone care insurance? It's the type that I got with my 24 month HTC Desire contract (July 2010 start date) from mobiles.co.uk.
My phone recently developed a fault with the microphone, so I need it repaired or replaced. It's made to sound fairly simple on the mobiles.co.uk website:
"with Phone Care, should your handset develop a fault after the 28 days exchange period you can visit a Carphone Warehouse Store and request a quick, no hassle Handset and Battery replacement"
But is it really as simple as walking into a carephone warehouse shop, presenting my certificate, and they'll repair/replace it? Or is there some hoop jumping I should be aware of?
On the terms and conditions their definition of 'damage' is "The phone breaking or failing to work properly (not due to a fault in the phone itself)."
I'm slightly concerned the microphone becoming faulty will be classed as a fault in the phone itself. Am I at risk of them trying to fob me off to HTC to make a warranty claim?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
