I was calculating the cost of nappies a 3 month old would go through, 50 pence per wash plus price of detergent etc, but my calculations were incorrect hence why I deleted the post. I did mention further down though, that it is likely £3 per week, NOT including the price of the Terrys.
You can buy 268 pampers for £23.98 which is probably around 6 weeks worth, so a saving of a fiver but then you have to buy the terrys, so really very little difference if any.
Although personally, I think the tonnes of disposables that go into landfill are not doing the earth any good at all, and I think the OP should certainly consider getting some.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -
are you aware that when giving earnings amounts to tax credits the first £100 of SMP is not counted and doesn't need to be declared.. OP sorry but theres no way your 3 month old needs 2 tins of milk a week. 2 tins would make approx 400 oz (400 divided by 7= 57) does your little one really drink 57 oz a day? Asda do massive bzes of around 90 nappies for £5 during there baby events (little angels own brands) these would also save you lots. There's 5 of us ( including a 8 week old) and we do it on a lot less than you and our mortgage is more.Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!

90 nappies at a fiver, would probably work out cheaper than terrys then, if not equal. £10 for 180 nappies, lasting say a month, it is certainly going to cost the same, if not a bit more for Terrys over a month and this does not include the price of the Terry nappies.
It is really no longer the case that Terrys are necessarily cheaper. What I used to do though, I used Terrys on my first, and then for the others use Terry's throughout the day and use a disposable during the night or if going out somewhere where changing may have been an issue.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -
I agree - there are many great deals on bulk buying nappies - ASDA and boots normally do 2 pampers boxes (around 58 nappies) for £20 so thats over 100 nappies for £20. Own brands will be cheaper. Lidl nappies are supposed to be very good and quite cheap if you have one near you.
Baby milk is expensive but there is no way a 3 month old needs 2 boxes a week. One might not last you a whole week, but there will be some overlap.Pay off all my debts before Christmas 2015 #165.0 -

For a three month old you can currently get 268 pampers for a little over £20 http://www.mothercare.com/Pampers-New-Baby-Nappies-Mini/dp/B003VKUFEW/280-9195481-9001338?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_1&nodeId=44531031&sr=1-1&qid=1312127151&pf_rd_r=0WQ4MAN7MY84K5GHTCYP&pf_rd_m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=42854041&pf_rd_p=231490867&pf_rd_s=related-tab-3-5
Again this works out the same as for Terrys IF not cheaper and they are a good brand make (although I preferred Huggies for mine)“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -
Anubis im a x cloth bummer myself which I have away as my last baby was a suprise else id have kept them.
Ive just double checked my supplies. My Asda box has 86 nappies for £5 (just under 6p a nappy) im going to say 8 changes a day 8x6=48p a day for nappies and 6 tins of milk for a 4 week month drum role by my maths thats £13.44p in nappies. SMA etc is under £10 a tin but im going to use £10 so that's £73.44p a month to feed and nappy little one.
Op do you buy 2nd hand for your little one. Bundles of clothes go for very little on ebay and have hardly been used. There's so many ways to cut back. Weve had to buy everything new for my new DD but we did it on very little. I got a rocker from ebay for 99p from a local lady selling it. It was used at 'grandmas' only and cost me 99p.Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!

You're forgetting that terries can be used for subsequent children too
Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.
