Grrrrrrrrrr.
As many famous old-stylers have previously posted, sometimes rather than a main meal, a starter and dessert can be served to one's nearest and dearest;)
you haven't met my OH lol:rotfl:
The french onion soup that i had lovingly slaved over didn't go down well (plus french bread chees toasties). thank goodness for the rhubarb crumble then (that was scrummy)........
won't be trying THAT combo again:eek:

Well, I think that sounds lovely so next time you're having it, I'll come for tea.0

the soup and a pud is not very popular in my house either, I love it but oh and son feel like they are missing out on their tea0

I agree, it's a girly thing.
I can't imagine serving up my dinner (deli olives / kettle crisps / G&T followed by an orange) to a b/f unless as an amuse-bouche!!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

thanks all for the support:)
isn't funny how many of us ladies will quite happily have an easy/cheap/whatever dinner?!
my OH too thinks he's missing out if he doesn't have a proper dinner:( i'd quite happily also eat the same thing for a few nights running....anything to save some money!
VfM4 - your combo sounds like my kind of diiner;)0 -
I've tried this in my house and son and hubby then ask me what's for dinner!!!!!!!!!!0
-
same in this house, I can stomach what evers going, even if that's just a starter or just a dessert but OH must have a proper dinner, i gained weight from having my 'whatever' then his full size dinner too :eek:If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0

I couldn't agree more, that's why cooking big batches of soup is so handy (made a spicy carrot concoction at the weekend, kept 3 small servings for the week and froze 11).
How else will we ever maintain our figures and clear our mortgages??! It's a no-brainer!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

My lot find it very filling and have never complained especially HM mushroom soup with HM granary bread followed by a sponge pud with custard of some sort.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Never tried it as I know what the reaction would be. They would be more than happy with a jacket spud and toppings though - which is just as cheap, less work but somehow feels like a meal....People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.
