Are Internet Explorer users dumb?

(CNN) -- Are users of other Web browsers smarter than the people who use Microsoft's Internet Explorer?
A new survey doesn't quite say so. But it sure as heck suggests it.
The survey by AptiQuaint, a Vancouver-based Web consulting company, gave more than 100,000 participants an IQ test, while monitoring which browser they used to take the test.
The result? Internet Explorer users scored lower than average, while Chrome, Firefox and Safari users were slightly above average.
And users of the more obscure Camino and Opera browsers, as well as those using Explorer with Chrome Frame (a plug-in designed to let users view emerging HTML5 content), had what AptiQuaint called "exceptionally higher" IQ levels.
The report suggests that people using Explorer, the built-in, default browser for Windows-based computers, may be more resistant to change. A similar study in 2006 showed users on the then-current IE browser scored above average.

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple

You can probably say what you like about IE users, they won't be able to read it0

It's gotta be said, I think IE gets a bad press generally. IE7 is a good stable browser in the main with some nice features. 8 went off the boil a bit and 9 is..well...hhmmmm..
BUT, I don't get why firefox is so popular, TBH. slow resource hog, IMHO. Yesterday I did a comparison of latest FF, IE8, Opera and chrome on my testing lappy, will have to dig it out and post it. Each with 2 tabs open (homepage - google, and the techie board) Opera was quickest and used least resources, followed by chrome, IE and Firefox last - over 100meg used on 2 tabs !!!......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

GunJack, funny enough ive been a FF user for years and tried Chrome a few times since it came out. I decided to give Chrome another shot about a month ago and ive been using it since. FF seems clunky compared to Chrome, I do miss adblock+, I know you can get it for Chrome but its not as good.0

I use Firefox and I like it because there are a lot of useful add-ons, and the user interface seems more logical/intuitive than other browsers. And also (I grudgingly concede) out of habit.
I agree that it isn't particularly fast, can be a resource hog and (for me at least) occasionally crashes (or freezes for a while) on very media-heavy pages... but even with those faults, I wouldn't want to be without it...0 -
People don't know any different, and as its bundled with their computer and it allows them to use the "internet". I have used FF for many years and and enjoy the options to pimp it out the way I like it0

Like at Lake Wobegon, we should aim for all people to be above average.0

The entire basis of the testing methodology is flawed.0
