Just found out my cat has been pts

Gutted. Came home from work today and my old mog usually meets me at the gate. He wasn't there today but I finish early on Friday I just thought he was still away doing cat things.

So, 5pm came and went and still no sign of him so I had a wee hunt round the garden shouting for him, still nothing. Visited my neighbour and asked him to look in his house at my cat is notorious for visiting random houses, and again nothing.

Then, new neighbour who has just moved in recently, told me she found him in her garden very ill and with a paralised rear end. As she has just moved in, she didn't know who's cat he was so just took him to the vet.

I rushed straight up to the vet an hour ago and was told he had to be put to sleep. Ended up leaving my phone number at the vet as I was standing in the waiting room blubbing like a 2 year old:o. The vet just called and said he had a blot clot which was sitting on artery at the base on his spine. Hence he couldn't use his legs as there was no blood flow. They put him on painkillers and blood clotting drugs but he just kept getting worse.

I am so greatful to my neighbour for taking him to the vets and that he wasn't left suffering for hours but I can't believe that's it's happened like this. I always thought I would have to make the decision, can't believe it's all happened when I wasn't around.

Have a good weep and give your cat a good wake (ie get !!!!!!).

Your new neighbour did the right thing, the vet made the decision - I know you will feel sad and guilty for not being there.

In a few days, take new neighbour a bunch of flowers and/or box of chocs - they went above and beyond what a lot of people would do - not easy to see when you are upset, but will gradually make sense.

You could have a great new friend there.

    Hugs

How horrible for both you, your neighbour and your poor cat.

Well done to your neighbour for taking action and getting him help as soon as they could, just such a shame the Vet could not save him.

My thoughts are with you OP x

At least the end was swift and he didn't suffer for too long.

Im so sorry to hear about your cat. Your neighbour sounds lovely and very caring to have found him and got him to the vets straight away. At least he was spared having to suffer. Hope you will be okay.

*hugs* it's horrible when they die suddenly, I recommend crying as much as you need to and talking about to all and sundry :(

So sorry for your loss :(

But thank god your neighbour is a kind and caring person and took poor moggy to the vets. I've just had a think about it and if mine had been in that position I would be thankful that someone had taken the care and time to do what was best. I'd be gutted that I wasn't there, but that's easier than thinking he'd suffered all day.

Must be a massive shock to have left him all OK and this all to have happened so suddenly. Poor you and poor moggy. I'll raise a glass to him tonight x
  • (((hugs))) I can only imagine how awful you must be feeling.

What a lovely lady to take him to the vet - it must've been a horrible experience for her both finding him and having to break the news to you.

Have a bubble, a "bottle" and please take some comfort that he didn't suffer.

RIP wee one, run free at the bridge and be youthful again.

It's nice to know though that there are good people out there like your new neighbour who cared for your cat.
