lgv hazard and perception theory test?
has anyone recently sat the lgv hazard and perception theory test recently?
have tried to purchase the cd for practice but cant find it for sale in local shops?
i know the hazard and perception is a seperate test for lgv, but can anyone who has recently sat the test please tell me if it is similar to a normal car theory hazard and perception, thanks.

thanks scotsman, yes got a disc from smiths but doesnt include the hazard and perception disc( smiths dont sell the seperate disc), i just wondered what could be so different to a normal car test hazard and perception.0

ITs a lorry. Its 8ft wide, up to 53ft long, up to 16ft 2in high and up to 44 tonnes in weight and may or may not bend in the middle. What makes you think it is any way similar to a normal car?0 -

Sorry to wee on your bonfire but the LGV hazard perception test is EXACTLY the same and the car test, albeit with more scenarios.
What makes you think potential hazards differ with regard to the vehicle being driven?0 -

Over a car? Let me see...
Bridge heights. Max weight limits, max length limits, max width limits. The fact it takes FAR LONGER to stop. The fact you can't corner as quickly. The fact that an emergency stop could end up killing you depending on the load. The fact that when carrying fluid loads you need to keep the brake on when you come to a stop. The fact that artic trailers have considerable cut in when turning corners. And thats before we get on to load restraining and load types.
Thankyou for confirming you haven't driven a lorry and probably not even a van bigger than a car and are most likely one of the moron brigade who pull out of junctions "to beat the lorry" because they think they handle no different to a car.0 -

have you sat the hazard and perception test recently?
my oh has been a hgv 1 driver for 40 years so i am aware of the differences between cars and wagons.
it is my son who is taking his theory next week, as he cant seem to buy the hazard and perception disc locally, hence my question to anyone who has sat the test recently0 -
Hammyman do you understand the difference between LGV as per the lead post and HGV or did the OP really mean HGV?
Just asking.
CheersThe difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has it's limits. - Einstein0 -
what used to be hgv is now called lgv0

firstly, i am an LGV driver so i know all about the 'moron brigade'!
The OP asked whether the car HPT was the same as the LGV HPT, not whether cars are different to lorries.
The HPT is all about identifying POTENTIAL hazards and then identifying when these develop into ACTUAL hazards.
The points you make are not potential hazards; they are absolute hazards/attributes of driving a truck and, while valid, have no relation the the HPT.
OP:
as i said earlier, the lgv HPT scenarios are exactly the same as the car ones. There are just more of them to work through. There is precious little practise material for this test but as long as your son knows exactly what the test requires then it is fairly simple. There is a DSA video available which explains the test in detail.0
