Sorry to tell you but I think you were charged way over the odds !. I could supply materials for that for £885.00 going on today's prices0 -
Your quote looks reasonable to me - fencing aint exactly easy graft having done quite a bit and the groundworks can vary tremendously with tree roots etc. etc. For a quality job you need to pay the odds and get a recommended firm/builder in - course you could get a cowboy in and expect the whole lot to look a bent up mess in a year or two.0

i had this from one of my customers , he told me that he thought my quote was far too expensive , i asked him how much he thought it should be and he couldn't give me a figure , as i get 99% of the jobs i quote i think that my prices are reasonable , i think i've only lost 2 this year and i only lost 2 last year .0

I got the impression they were talking about the labour and material costs, not just the material. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
If it's double the price, can't you just half the height?0

The materials for the job add up to about £700, I just didn't realise that labour costs would be nearly double the material costs!
I'm having two more people quote for the job over the next couple of days so should then be able to see if it is reasonable. Thanks for all your replies.
So you expect them to install it for £300???? Do you realise how hard fencing is and how long it takes???? You're talking probably two days work for two people, plus the ordering of the parts, depending on your ground conditions...(and of course the cost of insurance/van/tools etc..)0 -
