You can get scented powder that you sprinkle on top of the cat litter - this really worked when i had my old cat, and gave the room a much nicer aroma!Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500
Debt payments 2012 £433.270 -
I think one answer might be, to scoop out poo and wee every time you see anything in the trays-that's what I do. I use wilkies non-clumping cat litter (£2.99 for a large bag) and I also use their cat litter tray liners which are about a pound for 15. I put the liner in the tray, then a layer of newspaper, which stops the cats clawing holes in the plastic, and then a layer of litter on top. I remove anythinf I see in there immediately, plus throw the whole thing away and start again every 3 days-not too expensive as I only half fill the tray initially and top up if necessary in between. I have had much more success in controlling any odour from the tray since I have been doing this.
You could also try the litter fresh powders they sell? I like these, but as my cats got older, it made them sneeze so I had to stop using it.
ETA- Sorry I didn't see you had solved the problem by the time I posted, glad you sorted things!Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0 -
It is ok buying these powders and things but your house still smells of the powder.
If you use the Simple Solutions liquid in neautralises the smell, so you can't smell anything after a short spell once it is dry.0 -

I use the cat litter
Golden Grey Master from zooplus
Its fab...never smells and lasts for ages! one bags lasts 6 weeks for 2 cats
It actually smells of baby powder, much better than cat pee!
Best cat litter i've ever used0 -
thank you for the tips
I've been scooping when I see it and opening all the windows - especially in the hot weather, however my darling babies do like to try to get out the window and into the big wide world, so I am paranoid about them being open too wide. I don't like strongly scented things as it begins to remind me of of cat poo, even if it smells nice.

ive noticed a massive improvement since buying oko cat litter from zoo plus and an enclosed tray...hubby wsnt much impressed when i spent 26.99 on cat litter but is impressed with how it only works out at a few pounds a week cos it lasts so long, i was spending more buying the cheap stuff cos i was having to empty the tray fully everyday because of the wee going everywhere.Have a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0
