Backward Meters With PV Panels - Who's The Thief?

  • Brilliant post from the OP!

It is crazy that anyone should get penalised for having a backwards running meter. It would make the entire shambles of a system a lot easier if EVERYONE had one, it would eliminate the need for Feed-In-Tarrifs.

Alas I suspect the Gov are too scared of the Big6 to make this simple and effective step. Millions more £'s could be saved by negating the need for Smart Meters.

I would be in favour of Smart Meters, but only if I got paid the same amount of money to Feed-In as I have to pay to Buy-In. 3p vs 15p /KWh is an utter Rip-Off!

To get that you would be happy for everyone to give up their Feed-in-tariff(FIT) subsidy I assume?

Don't think that would get much support on this forum. - To give up anything from 21p/kWh to 45p/kWh doesn't seem a good deal.

How are people penalised for having a backward spinning meter?

Alos, such a meter wouldn't eliminate the need for the FIT, unless you think replacing 42p for each kwh with 12p for each kWh exported would be sufficient to get thousands of solar panel systems installed (which is the idea of the FIT). It's amazing how green people can be when they rake in £1600pa from a £10k spend, but I expect most wouldn't be green enough to spend £10k if they only got back £250pa, as is the implication of your ideas.
