Skype for Android

I've just downloaded the Skype app for my Pulse and it works perfectly. I'm a bit unsure of the costs though - if I have it running in the background (in order to accept calls) is it using data or does that only happen when it's active on a call? I want to take it to Spain but data is so expensive over there I want to be sure I'm not being charged when it's in stand-by! TIA

If its logged in running in the background it will be using data albeit a fairly small amount till a call comes in.

When it comes to choosing between roaming data and roaming telephone calls i'd pick telephone calls everytime based on cost. Roaming data costs significantly more than telephone calls when you are abroad. I'd get in touch with your phone carrier and ask them what roaming call packages they offer. If you aren't fussed about using a different telephone number whilst abroad then you could also get a PAYG sim card that offers cheap roaming calls.

Thanks - I already have a spanish sim that I use over there and the carrier allows Skype which is quite unusual The data side is 3c per mb and I can find wifi quite easily on an evening - I just didn't want to be eating into my data without being aware of it :eek:
