Tax and V5 document question
Comments
-
The dealer should be sending off the V5 with the new owner/keepers details and not giving it to the new keeper to do the work. They should be able to give the new keeper the tear off slip from the right hand page which should be enough to enable taxing the vehicle."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

I would be checking how many previous registered keepers were shown on the V5C document.
It is possible that when this car was sold to Fords of Winsford, that the previous owner kept hold of the whole right hand page (sections 9, 10 & 11) rather than just ripping off section 9 - "Sale to the Motor Trade"
Thus, FOW did not have section 10 - "New Keeper Supplement" to give to the OP
I cannot remember if the Motor Trader needs to sign as the seller in section 8. Has it been signed ?
However, the instructions on the rear of the "New Keeper Supplement" states:The New Keeper (Buyer) can use this Section in place of the full Registration Certificate to obtain a vehicle excise licence at any license issuing Post Office or DVLA Local Office.Tax with a Registration Certificate or New Keeper Supplement – in person or by post
You can tax in person at any Post Office® branch that issues tax discs.
You will need to take:- Registration Certificate or New Keeper Supplement

You can also tax at a DVLA local office or by post to selected Post Office® branches.
