Halifax Reward Second Account

Options
Dear all, there are many reward account queries, so I will try to keep this brief.

We are 3 brothers, we each have a Halifax reward account.

I have read you can hold an additional joint Halifax Reward account.

Between the three of us, how would we go about getting joint accounts? How many can we have between us? (We don't need an account for all three people)

Thank you.

So there are three of you, I'll call you A, B and C.

Each of you can hold one in your own name.
A can hold one jointly with B.
A can also hold one jointly with C.
And B can hold one jointly with C.

You can open a joint account online, by phone or in a branch, the procedure is the same as for a sole account.
  • Thank you rb10 for that simple and clear response.

So one person can hold several joint accounts as long as each one is with a different person?

Can an existing sole account be made into a joint account? Or do you need to open a totally new account?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but you can only hold one sole account and one joint account(T&C). Many people have been opening many sole accounts and joint accounts due to branch errors. But they are slowly closing these accounts at Head Office without account holders consent.

Hope you don't mind my asking, but just interested how you know this, are you speaking from experience/staff member? I've only read of one case on this forum where someone's account was closed, but no real confirmation about the reason why.

I've got 4 (3 single and 1 joint), and opened them all online (not in branch), nothing been suggested to me that anything's going to happen to any of them - yet.

Existing sole accounts can easily have an extra name added to make it a joint account.

You are probably correct here - my mistake.

It may well be that Person A can hold a joint account with either Person B or Person C.

    .

I actually know this as i know people who work for Halifax. Cashiers are flagging these accounts to Head Office and same with those you speak to on the phone when making enquiries. I would advice you to use only online with all your current accounts to avoid this happening to you, any time soon. Good luck

My daughter wants to open a joint account with me as we are helping her with costs on her flat, but I already have a joint account with my husband (our main HBOS account), so does this mean she cannot open joint account with me?

But she could, for example, open a joint account with, for example, her partner?

If she doesn't already have an account in her own name, why can't she just open a single account instead of one with her partner?
