Well, O2 refused to port my number as I had bought from Dial-a-phone, but they gave me £35 off my bill when I said how upset I was that they'd given me the wrong information.

I'd rather have kept my number though...
  • ok, so what is the solution if i must keep my number (was on three) and am about to buy an O2 contract with D.A.P???

its so much easier having the old number!!

There is no solution. DAP do not facilitate ports to O2 and you cannot port once your new O2 connection has been established.

Mobileshop will port into O2, they charged me £10 to do so 12 months ago.

Coolnewmobile, Phones4U (online), The Mobile Outlet. I intend to put a list together which I will soon publish.

The way I get around this (I do it every year when i take out a new 12month contract 12 month free deal) is to port to number to a PAYG phone on o2 telling them i cant afford the contract so i am going to PAYG once this is done I then port the number back to my new contract phone. It is long winded but it works and whilst o2 dont like it when they suss what you have done it does work and they will do it but dont tell them what you are doing when you port across to the PAYG.

This will still not solve the problem of being unable to port a number when taking out an O2 contract at DAP.

Well... I just received written confirmation of my PAC from Virgin along with a leaflet which states:

"Ofcom... says you always have the right to transfer your main mobile number unless:
    - it has been disconnected, or
    - if your current service provider has already terminated it"

Time to give Ofcom a bell...!
  • Just called Dialaphone and heard they can now port on O2!! They dont make offer it but if you insist they sort it out!

Well they took my PAC details and looks like I am going to Port to O2 from Dialaphone with a great offer !! :T
