You just brush it on, rather then apply luquid so it is less noticeable. I find that it just illuminates my skin if I only do one layer, for night I just go round face few more times.
There is several good ones out there, depends on your price tag. I currently use Elizabeth Arden, but that is £24 (though lasts months).

And then mascara. I would just put little, quick brush through to start with until you get used to it and experiment with layers.

I love Max Factor. Easy to use and non expensive (around tenner).

thank you - funnily enough i just got some avon mineral powder stuff and i aim to use it from next week - must admit to being nervous and i am sure i will go bright red when i walk in the office.
silly i know but being in a b!tchy office does tend to knock your confidence abit
