Asda 3 for £10

Just a bit of a niggle.
Went to Asda this morning at 5:30am (couldn't sleep). I usually use the 3 for £10 meats to get pork steaks, chicken fillets, and mince meat. This morning i get to the display, and find prawns, lamb, pork, chicken fillets, and a gammon joint. (this display is usually at an aisle end and is exclusive to deals)
Everything else, apart from the gammon joint, had a 3 for £10 sticker on the individual item, but the SEL on the gammon joint said "3 for £10"
I asked a member of staff if this was included in the 3 for £10 deal with the other meats and was told yes.
So i buy chicken fillets, pork steak, and the gammon joint.
Get to the checkout, and each came through as £4, with no discount to £10, so cost me £12.
OK, i know it's a bit petty, but, when i questioned it, I was told that if it didn't have a sticker on it then it wasn't included.
The absence of a sticker was why I asked in the first place.
I paid the difference anyway, but it just niggled me that the SEL made it seem like it was the same deal, and putting it on the same display as the other offers would confuse other shoppers.
Niggle over xx

I'd have stood my ground if the SEL stated it was on offer. You'd have got it on offer, plus an extra £2 for your trouble. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.0

They say you learn something new every day and SEL is my new learn for today.
I thought if it was displayed at that price it had to be sold at that price.Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

I think what has happened is this:
The other meats are part of a 'buy any three for £10' promotion.
The gammon, OTOH, is simply 'buy 3 gammons for £10' so cannot be mixed.
You have to be very careful with offers. Tesco has some 69p yoghurts on an almost permanent 'buy 5 for £3' offer. A couple of weeks ago I noticed that they were 'buy 6 for £3'. A nice little bonus, you might think, but I wonder how many people did not notice the change (the labelling was identical - just a single digit change) and ended up paying £3.45 for 5.There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

It doesn't have to be sold at that price in general, but Asda's policy is that they do sell it at the price displayed. There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. Azari's right. To get the discount you'd have had to buy 3 gammons. It's not so much the SEL (ooh, new word!) that's the problem; rather that Rain_is_Insane specifically asked and was told it was part of the wider deal. That's naughty and irritating and it might have been worth saying 'I was told by *her over there* that this was part of the 3 meats for £10 deal'.
Out of goodwill they might have knocked the couple of quid off. Or at the very least, shot whomever told you porkies."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0
