I just refurb my entire house

Options
Hello everybody,
I just renovate my entire house, a 4 bedroom terraced house, with 2 double bedrooms, 2 single, 2 bathrooms, 1 cloak room, big kitchen and reception room.
I used a good company, from my point of view it is the best one I've used, the representative guy from this company bring it in to my house 3 teams, 1 team for bathrooms, 1 for kitchen and the other one did the plaster job,all flooring(laminate and tiles) ,all painting and redecoration. The representative guy take cared about every thing, even he was very busy he came to my house to manage the project exactly as I want it, his teams did all the shopping for materials(tiles, timbers, plasterboard, etc,) but they've been charged me with £ 20 per hour, they have only 5 hours for shopping, this was specified in contract and I was agreed with that from the begging, so for me, was ok. The best think about this company was the fastest mode they've worked, they finished my project in about 4 weeks, it was very impressive because those guys worked long hours so was necessary to talk with my neighbors, they were agreed with this situation. I have to say that before to start this project I've looked for many builders and companies and they've came to me with a written estimate, this company was not the cheapest one, but was the only one how impressed from the begging, the representative guy, who came to give me the price for labour give to me many ideas and advices, that others have not given me and those advices was very useful for me. The total price for project was £ 62000 with labour and materials, and to don't forget, a first think that I didn't understanding was an estimate for building materials, at the first look I thought that was about everything that I will need to buy, but no, it was only the plasterboard, the multifinish, timbers, insulation, tiles adhesive, silicone, caulk, paint, bonding plaster, electric cable, many type of pipes and connections for them so this kind of things represent building materials and you have to prepare for more than is written in the quotation because this materials depend about how old is your house. It was a little bit expensive this project, but the quality is very good and in a short time, it could be more if the representative guy from the company, if it had not intervened to help me to buy all the things for my home(tiles, paint, accessories, bathrooms suites, kitchen cabinets, the comby boiler, doors and many many things) were I saved a lot of moneys because he has trade accounts on all shops that I have been(about £ 3400). I will come back with a new description about this company after they will finish the next job for me, I have a bungalow house in Potters Bar, till than, all the good thinks for everyone.

    Only £62K, a bargain.

Kitchen £15K including units, bathroom £5K, skirting £1K, architraves £1K, overboarding and skimming ceilings and skimming all walls in rooms, £5K, carpets £2K, doors £600, new central heating £6K. I'm still a few pounds short. I suppose painting and decorating could add up.

To be honest I suppose you could easily reach that if you have a really really posh kitchen and bathroom, solid wood floors and so on.

I presume the 62K budget didn't contain an allowance for paragraphs ;)

You can presume anything you want, I don't care about your opinion or anyone else. It was a great deal if you'd really like to know, because other tradesman give me a £ 55000 estimate only for labour, and btw, where is the privilege...? I find this forum very useful, but the people no.:(
    sorry about that

Presumably you'd have had a decent education that involved English grammar, if you could afford £62k.

That's a dodgy comment I'm afraid. The OP's English is poor, but they could for example be Ango Asian, and brought up overseas.

That said, I do think the amount is incredibly high, especially since the original post refers to laminate floors, indicating low to medium quality flooring.

When I came to modernise my house, I got many quotes. For preparing the kitchen (plaster, electrics), new boiler, and doing the bathroom one company quoted £20K. What they did was throw in huge amounts of extra stuff, and charge for everything (remove coving in one room = £300, overboard ceiling = £400, reinstate coving = £300). I went with another firm that weren't trying to generate work, and quoted a reasonable price for what I wanted. I do hope the OP got multiple quotes.

It would be interesting to know exactly what the OP had done.
