DVD problems

ive managed to get the dvd to play on the kids dvd players but it was a long winded affair....i went into the menu..went into scene selection ...selected a scene from further on in the film and it started to play...so i then went back through the scenes to the start and it started to play without a problem...but it still wont play if i just let it run from the start...strange i know...thanks for all your helpfull suggestions guys0
