  • Day2 was no spend! hurrah.
  • Didn't spend anything on an icecream yesterday so saved there....but spent a stupid amount on eating out instead.

Back to being sensible today - bought some essentials (milk, apples etc) but they are from my shopping budget so don't see that as an overspend.

Essentially a NSD today then, as stuck inside all day working (boo!)

Day 3 nearly done and assuming nothing goes wrong on the way home another day where I have not spent a penny.

Going to run out of bread soon though and already don't have any milk so will have to decide what else I can have for brekkie or just give in and buy milk/bread!

See, I count a NSD day as a day I don't spend anything from my bank account including food, petrol... anything.

How do others measure this challenge?

Monkeynut i have but im registered on that many sites it would be hard to take advantage of the bonuses you get for signing up, which is where most of the money comes from.

I class a NSD is a day i dont spend money on -
Direct debits such as car insurance, phone etc.
Fuel, car repairs, tax etc is NEEDS and do not count.

Sweets, drink, going out etc does count BUT you have to allow yourself some...be realistic and budget in advance.

The important part of this challenge is not the NSDs in itself, its budgeting before hand and sticking to it. You cant go wrong :D

I am saving up to pay off all debts in one. So i will need at least 5 figure to do so. Right now i have about £9,000 for this. I say 5 figure to make sure i dont go complete skint and end up using cards again!!

Will be debt free by the end of year, away to Florida in April with my OWN money....great feeling!! Then its onto house deposit! Without debts i will be saving at least £1,600 a month...currently min payments for debts are about £760.
Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.
  • NSD again today. Took packed lunch into work and paid £200 off the credit card balance!

Not planning on spending anything tomorrow either as I am helping out on a school trip.

May even get REALLY organised and put the slow cooker on tomorrow morning....we'll see!

  • Hi. Loving this challenge. Though I'm not as strict as some others, it's making me save a pound or two here and there. Will all add up. Yesterday, I used the park and ride for £2 instead of parking in town and paying £4+. Have signed up to the not buying toiletries challenge too. Really looking forward to seeing the impact on my bank balance at the end of the month.

I'm on NSD 4 and so far all I have spent this month is £4.61 on test pot of paint and netcurtain hooks as we have just had windows done and needed to paint over plaster.
I havn't even taken out my weekly cash from the machine.
I am going out for a friends leaving do on Saturday night, dinner AND drinks ouch....but going to limit to £25 I think. Also have a show and dinner on Monday! So all savings this week go towards those 2 events.
I normally allow myself £40 a week spending, so I must stay within that.

I count a NSD if I personally have not spent any money at all, I don't count direct debits out of my account though.
