Online simplicity 10 12 month

Hi,

my main contract got converted to this in December. Getting 300 mins & unlimited texts.

At the time I asked about data allowance, I was told I could add the 500mb for £5. Now my partner's got a Xperia Neo she wants to go on the internet, and they're charging a £1.

I've spoken to a friendly O2 rep who told me I couldn't add the bolt on as I've got an old tariff and I would need to move to a new one then add a bolt on, but to get what I have would be around 3 times what I'm paying!

Is this right, can I get out of the contract?
Anyone else had the issue?

Thanks

I am no expert, but I think the rep was talking rubbish.

They're not. With the new Q111 O2 tariffs they done away with the £10 12 month Simplicity option (which I believe is the 300 minutes) so the cheapest option is £15.50 which gives 600 minutes and unlimited texts, to add a data bolt on (say 500MB) you'd be looking at £21.50, I'm not sure how this equates to 3 times as much, but there's no option to add data bolt-ons to pre-Q111 tariffs any more.

    Thanks guys.

So my only options are to either not use data or to shift tarriffs and end up paying extra?

Pretty much, you could go for the 100MB data bolt on so it would work out at £18.50 a month and when you go over the data the speed is throttled and there's no additional charge for going over and you'll get the extra 300 minutes, but if you've lasted 7 months without them you're probably not going to need them.

I still don't understand why a bolton cannot be added to an 'old' (just 8 months old in fact) tariff.

You'll have to change tariff if you want a data bolt on added. You're on a pre Q11 tariff but the data bolt ons cannot be added to them.

You could argue 'till you're blue in the face, it still wouldn't get added to the same tariff as yours as it's not possible.
