Sky at it's best completley ripping us off.
Bad News for F1 fans today with Sky buying the rights. What a Monopoly they have. We will not be paying for Sky Sports!!0 -
And I'll be interest to see your comments when the true nature of this is unveiled come next year when many people could trim down their packages by getting rid of channels they don't watch, no longer have that choice and pay a higher gross fee Less choice that will generate more money.
Where is there any rationale for any increase - their wage structure has not increased. Their profits are increasing - not really the figures to generate the constant rises to packages that we see - I would have seen a good case for a reduction in fees and am not going to jump up and down about a hidden rise.
I agree there's no need to jump up and down - either way. There will be two options next year, other than the sports/movies packages - one entertainment pack is £25, which gives you everything, and the other is £20, which gives you less. From a personal point of view, looking at the two packs I watch very little of the higher-priced pack so can cut down to the £20 version. Again, personal choice. For the next year I get more than I currently get for the same price (albeit channels I won't be likely to be watching).
I'm not saying they should increase charges, or that we should thank them for not doing so, but to suggest that they should be cutting their fees is ludicrous - as I said before they are a business, not a charity, and as customers we have absolute choice as to whether we use them and to what extent. If people feel strongly about it they should cancel Sky, and if everyone starts doing that they'll have to drop charges. Until that happens, why would and why should they? Of course I'd love it if they did, and I struggle a bit to afford the package I'm on (basically the lot), but I choose to continue with it as I enjoy it. That's my choice, and the same goes for everyone else on here.0 -
Wait a minute...
So I pay £24.50 a month for what was previously called the 6 packs, and now will be getting the Entertainment plus package for the same price, but others (inc AdamBrunt and others I'm sure - not singling anyone out) get the same number of channels as me for £4 less for the year?
That's not very fair.

Sky don't really have a standard charging package as anyone who rings up and says they want to leave finds out. They will cut your bill in half, install multi room and HD for free, give you a new Sky Plus Box (again for free). You just have to be pushy and go through the cancellations process and they soon offer you reasonable deals to stay.I want to be credit card and loan free by Christmas 20100

Hi all
Just got an e mail from sky to say everyone is having a price freeze for a year on your current package
so for me that is the full sky package for £26 a month for a year
i am well pleased with that
HTH :j:j:j:j
Sorry to burst you bubble, but sounds like you are on a promotional discount with 50% off, when it is due to end it will go back up to full price
It means full price subs are not increasing, if you are on a promo it will go up when its due to end it will not be extended for a further year0 -
On the bottom of the letter was a code to claim a free movie from the box office so check your letters0

I just checked out the link. I currently have 3 packs, the variety, music and knowledge pack for £21.50, but if I want to continue with the music and knowledge (the latter I only have for 2 crime channels) I will have to pay £25
. This new 2 pack doesn't look a good deal for me, if I dropped to the £20 pack I'll be paying £1.50 more too. Are the freesat channels the same content as freeview?
Edit: Although the blurb does say customers would not lose existing channels and I am guessing the new charge won't happen til the price freeze?0 -
Cath, basically if you do nothing now, on the 1st of September this year you will still be paying what you are now but will have access to all the extra channels in the Entertainment plus pack for a whole year at no extra charge. Before the 1st of September 2012 you will have to decide whether to keep all the channels and pay £25 a month, or downgrade to the entertainment pack for £20 per month (or leave sky, of course
).

Thanks MrsBartolozzi. I was looking at what was on my sky planner and thought maybe anything I recorded before the change over I'd probably lose, but at least I have a year from this September to decide on my package or look elsewhere lol!0
