Hi, I have just received a parcel from a post man who asked me to sign for it and I did. When I opened I realised that It was not for me and not my name is on the package. I opened it and it is an expensive cream. What should I do now? take it back to the post office and explain that its not mine as I am afraid they can send me a bill asking to pay for it? No senders address is on the package.

As you state, just take it to the Post office and tell them that it was delivered by mistake and opened in error.
Alternatively, if the correct house is near to you, you could always drop it off there explaining what happened.
You won't be asked to pay for it as you have no contract with whoever sold it.0 -

I wouldn't even bother doing that - if there is no delivery address / name on the parcel, then treat as unsolicated mail - no-one can make you pay for goods you didn't ask for.

f there is no delivery address / name on the parcel
But there was a name on there (not the OPs) and there must have been a delivery address of some sort on the package, and if it is not the OP's then by not attempting to find the correct recipient or returning it to the post office, they are probably acting illegally.
It is not an offence to open mail that is not addressed to you provided that you don't intend to cause any loss to the addressee, and now that the OP knows that the goods are not theirs, this may not be the case.
I know that it's highly unlikely that anything will happen if they simply keep hold of the goods, but then again if someone reports their mail as lost and RM check up and the postie remembers who signed for it, they might follow it up.
As yourself one question.
How would you feel if you ordered something which you paid for via paypal and it never arrived?
Then when you opened a goods not received dispute it was closed in favour of the seller as the online tracking showed that the goods had been delivered and signed for.0 -
You've probably recieved someones competition prize - whats the name of the cream, search for it in the comp forum0

whats the cream, search for it in the comp forum
If it's for genital warts or crabs, I doubt if they will find it!0 -
Hi,
I think if there is a delivery name, then the OP could try looking up online - see if they can spot them in the local area ... or if there is an invoice with a company address on it.
But if that information is not available - what else can the OP do??
