Ever heard of WeBuyAnyCar.com???

Hi All,

Need to get rid of my old car - its a 99 Matiz and the headgasket's gone, so whilst it still starts first time (every time...for seven years), it's not worth much to anyone.

I've bought a new Pre-reg car, and the dealership said they would give me £50 for it.

Then, whilst surfing today, I came across WeBuyAnyCar.com Filled in the details for an online quote, and they were offering £325. Rang them up to see if it was too good to be true, and the guy maintained that that was a reasonable amount for a car to be used for parts only.

I'm supposed to take the car into Carcraft tomorrow - which is where they are located. But I'm terrified that it is going to go horribly wrong.

Has anyone dealt with them in the past, or heard anything about them. Or can you suggest any other ways of getting rid of it that don't involve a 14 mile drive (with the headgasket gone....eek  )

Thanks, in advance.

Hi, I've heard a lot from unhappy customers on our local radio complaining with carcraft. A member of my family once part exhanged his car at carcraft. First they changed the milage and cost figures on his car he was part-exchanging, then he was diddled with a rather his APR on his finance. The family member was getting on in age at the time and he says the salesman he was talking to was rather pushy, and after he felt he had to sign- and read the documents at home he realised how he was conned. Trading standards had to look into the matter. In the end he spoke to one of carcrafts area managers who sorted thing out.

What made me laugh, which isn't funny really is when he picked the car up the salesman told him the fuel was rather low, so my F/M filled up at the first petrol station- the cashier said when he paid " just picked your car up from carcraft?"
  • Just picked up your car from carcraft?

This probably means the petrol station has to pay commission to carcraft for giving the petrol station new business!! lol.
  • A workmate got an omega from them not a cheap car £11000,50 weeks later blown turbo cant find warranty papers so he got he work started as he was going on holiday that week. The next day he found the papers and rung the warranty company, they refused the claim as he the work had started, result £750 for the turbo. Also watch their prices internet prices and forecourt prices are totally different, and they dont like you knowing both prices. My friend got 2 p/ex prices.
  • Hi...I'm not buying from carcraft (I'm not that daft!). Its just this webuyyourcar.com who have offered £325 for my car happen to have their office or whatever in carcraft.

I can't vouch for the company at all, but that's not an unreasonable offer you've got for the Matiz. The dealer seemingly gave you a 'we really don't want it' price.

As long as you get cleared funds before handing over the car, there's very little risk.

Fourteen miles! Pah! I took a 3.0V6 car on a 250 mile drive with a blown head gasket and all the oil pretty much replaced with water - not to mention the zero oil pressure, dodgy brakes, three tyres of dubious quality and smell of fuel in the cabin. One of the most entertaining drives I've ever had...

Ah, but did you have to drive a stretch of road with a £50 breakdown recovery charge :-)

Seriously, thanks Philhuff for the reassurance - its much appreciated. I may well give it a shot next weekend.

  • I've just sold my 54 plate Ford Focus to the same people - they gave me just over £4 and a half grand which was pretty much what they had said it was worth on their website. The money has turned up in my account and I thought they seemed reasonable enough to deal with. They were ideal for me cos I wanted rid of the car fast so that I could go travelling with my wife. Got our flight tickets booked now! :-)
  • Please don't get me started on Carcraft - they may have got their act together since 2002 but I...okay, stick to the thread. I thought I'd look at seeing what 'they' thought my Alfa Spider was worth, it's a 2001 model, and yes, not the newest shape, but have had it valued after I'd done the necessary work. Local garages were will to sell at between 6,750 and 8,250. As it's a 6-speed upgrade and is basically immaculate, I thought I'd run a comparison.

    WeStealYourCar.com came up with 3,310.

    Say no more.

    Bloody cowboys.

How can you call them cowboys? If you don't like the offer then you don't have to take it!

A good friend of mine just sold his missus' old Peugeot 106 to them. They offered about £300 and it had a few things wrong with it. They just wanted to get rid of the car and saved themselves a load of hassle by selling to webuyanycar.com.

If you want to get rid of a car sharpish then they seem fine. If you don't like their offer, sell it somewhere else!
  • I have just sold my 7 year old 1.1 Citroen Saxo with 88,000 miles on the clock to webuyanycar.com.

We were met by a huge bouncer of a guy who turned out to be nice enough to deal with. He took the car out for a test drive and was gone for about 10 mins.

The car needed a lot of work and i had been told by 2 garages that the car basically needed a new engine due to premature wear (I'm not a boy racer) and had several scratchs and dents.

The website quoted £460 and i knew he would knock this down, due to the problem of the engine management light on i was expecting to get an offer of £100 for scrap.

I was pleasntly suprised to get an offer of £320. I have received the money today and more than happy with their service. Don't expect a lot of money from them but if like me you just want to get rid of your car then this is the easiest place to do it.
