iPhone dead 2 weeks out of warranty, any rights?!
Hi my iPhone just died last Thursday, it was plugged in to charge then the screen went blank and it asked to be plugged into iTunes - did this it did nothing. Phoned (and paid £25) Apple for a support call and they tried to help me restore it. This didn't work, it has an error code suggesting its a hardware fault. I checked with my provider, Orange, and I'm 2 weeks outside of my year's warranty and they said take it to the Apple shop. I haven't been yet as I feel that I shouldn't have to pay over £100 for a repair when the damned thing has just given up the ghost! Especially when they are touted as a premium product and are expensive. I'm on a 2 year contract with Orange and really don't want to be stuck paying £35 a month for another year for a phone I can't use! Any advice?!

As suggested, take it to the Apple shop to find out what is wrong.
Whereas I agree that an expensive product such as an Iphone should last more than 12 months, it needs to be determined what is wrong and why.
You will say that you have treated it with kid gloves and it must be a manufacturing fault, but you may have tried to upgrade it or change the root software for all we really know. Or one of the rogue, virus ridden apps.
So someone who is qualified to find out needs to take a look and see. If the phone has a manufacturing fault, then they may replace it foc. You really can't move forward without the actual problem being diagnosed.
Certainly any costs should be reduced by the abortive £25 charge already paid.0
