Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 27th July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Well I'm sat here wondering what today will bring, I've spent the last 2 day's helping DD as she is carless at the moment, I have lots of things I need/like to do, but dare I start? I planned to go there for an hour yesteday but ended up helping her finish a solder order, deliver it & get her shopping. Then when I finally got home she rang to say DGD1 had had a fall & needed to go to A&E, so off I went again, lol. (DGD had spained her finger, not broken it, phew) I don't mind as she would do the same for me, but boy am I tired, I must be getting old!
Welcome back Squiggly.
So plans for today? Bu**er all, I'm just going to potter around & wait for the next phone call from DD. I still need to sort out the cat !!!!!!, thank you for all the suggestions yesterday, I'll try the Olbas Oil, as I have some here & I shall get some moth balls next Friday when I am near Wilkinsons, I shall also ask DD if DS! has a toy snake I can borrow.
Annie, what a brave post.
Kazzaw, 11lbs wow, what a lovely size.
MM, hugs, take it easy.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning everyone
Overcast here this morning, hopefully the sun will get out later. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. I'm just working until lunchtime then that's me done until Monday - need to get jobs done though otherwise everything descends into chaos!
Will collect DS1 from MIL after I finish work, then collect DS2 from summer school after that, house has seemed so quiet without them, it's ok for a day or 2 but don't like it as a long term thing. Dinner last night was LO potato bake, fish and fresh corn on the cob, with victoria sponge for dessert. Tonight we're having pork chops, potatoes, veg and gravy - DS2 is cooking tonight instead of tomorrow night as I have a meeting at work tomorrow evening so will put a casserole in before I go.
Will be busy tomorrow - I need to get the washing, drying and ironing done as not too much at the moment so don't want it to build up, we're going away at the weekend so need to pack - only 1 night so small overnight bag needed. Will be cooking/baking again either tomorrow or Friday so we have some treats to take away and for lunchboxes etc next week.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning Hester and all who cross and follow
Grey here again to day but no rain. Sat on the sofa with both cats curled up next to me. Little cat has just sat on my laptop and done something weird to the screen.
Off today to do Mum's cleaning, then I'm popping into a local pub to a leaving do. Then picking up the big dog for a sleepover. We've been invited to a barbecue today so that's dinner sorted.
ANNIESTAR thankyou for your post it takes a lot of courage to do what you did, hugs hun.
Hugs to anyone else who needs one. Have a good day all.

Good Morning everyone , DD has a day off today so do I
my DGS Ben is coming to have a go at the 'wild-life area' at the bottom of my garden for me and do some odd jobs .He wants to earn a few bob so I said I will give him some jobs to do so he can get a new set of strings for his guitar. He said he would come and do it for free, but I said no I am willing to help him out but he will work for it (he hasn't seen how over grown the bottom bit is yet ):):) It will keep him busy for a few hours and it helps me out no end.I have to meet DD at 4.00 at the dentists this afternoon to keep an eye on the little one whilst she has a check up.She has changed and is now going to use my dentist as her one isn't very good .
Apart from that i think today will be a bit of a 'pottering' day.Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays with the children Only 18 more days until we go away on our family holiday I will be sorting out some tins of bits and pieces to take with us.My eldest DD dropped some cardboard boxes off last night which will be filled up with spare dry goods as we take lots of bits with us and buy fresh meat, bread and veg when we get there.
Right I'm off to get the coffee on
Have a great day everyone
Cheers JackieO xx0 -
Morning all,
What a lovely lot you are on here, after enquiring about the book 'The Help' yesterday, I have been offered two copies, I have taken the first one up on the offer, and I will pass the book onto someone else once I have finished, thanks both x
Anniestar, I have been thinking of you, hope you are ok xx
Off to work today, dd is having a group of friends round, they are supposed to be having a picnic in the garden, but its very overcast here. so they will probably be in the house.
Dinner tonight is chicken fried rice, and I will need to hoover through and do a wash.
Have good days all,
Sending good luck vibes to someone who needs them today xx0 -
redruby the book is called 'The Help' by Kathryn Stockett isbn 978-0-141-03928-2 and my library copy was published by Penguin.
I have just caught up on yesterdays posts0 -
Good morning everyone,
Been up and pottering since 5:15. Not done anything useful though!
Anniestar - well done on facing your demons, that's the way to go. Wishing you strength and determination. What a fantastic idea about donating your hair:) x
Marie - hope you are feeling comfortable. What about a child's rubber swimming ring?
Bramble - fantastic news that the credit check worked out OK
Very overcast here so it's hard to get motivated and get a move on.
Dinner yesterday went down very well. The 5 adults had toad in the hole and the 5 children had baked sausages. Everything went! We just had enough runner beans for those who wanted to be able to have secondsDD2 and I made pavlova. I've not done that before and it worked quite well. I didn't put quite enough sugar in the meringue so I know for next time - 1 tablespoon of sugar per egg white plus 1 over.
Dinner tonight will be steak for 6 adults and parmesan crumbed chicken for the 5 children and DSIL. Will have hm peppercorn & stilton sauce with hg potatoes and hg courgette & garlic stir-fry. The onions, shallots and garlic are doing really well this year.
Not doing much OS wise today. DH is having the day off so we might go to the Hampshire & New Forest show at Brockenhurst. Never been to it before so have no idea what it is like. So a day for us and then the whole family eating together - just right.
Happy Wednesday folks with hugs for those who need or want.
Cheers m'dears, Silver xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Having a bit of trouble with my hip at the moment, its very stiff and painful. My doc has warned that it could result in a hip replacement but losing weight would help. I really really need to make this a priority.
DS3 and I will pop over to a nearby town today, need to go to the bank and will have a mooch around the charity shops.
Have a job application to fill in but my laptop wont let me as Microsoft word has gone since I had it fixed and really can't afford another £80 to get it again. Think I will pop into the library and do it there.
Tea tonight will be Sausage Casserole and Victoria Sponge to follow.
DH is working really hard at the mo so making an extra effort to make good meals for him.
Looks like a nice day again. Happy Wednesday all J xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Morning :hello:
Master tru hung his towel up after a shower last night
I'll be sweeping around the piggy cages today, but I'm not doing the whole floor. The hob needs a scrub (after just two days!!) but I'm not cleaning that either
Cleo Chick keeps escaping, so I clipped her right wing. That didn't stop her, so I clipped the other one too. She's desperately trying to fly up onto the fence, but can't.
Mr tru asked me ring Homebase to see if our slabs have arrived (bought some reduced, £2 each), then ring him and let him know. "Wouldn't it be quicker if you rang, then?". He hasn't got time, apparently. "But you have time to TAKE a phone call? It's one phone call, the time to you is the same". He said "Oh you don't want to do anything lately  ". I said "No I don't". It seems he hasn't listened to me at all. I have two words, and the second one is 'off'.
I'm going to spend a couple of hours in the garden this morning. The tomato plants have suddenly got really heavy, so they need trimming and tying up. There's loads of carrots and beetroot ready, I'll pull a few of those and leave the rest in for now. I haven't got room to store them all in the house ATM, so the ground can act as storageBulletproof0 -
Morning
Tru - :T Go you
JO - Enjoy your restful day xx
Quiet here atm, DH went to work and was sent home as he had a sickness bug, so he's took dogs for a walk with DD2, DS is chilling in his jammies, DD1 is showered and dressed . Have done the kitchen and mopped floor. WM is on. Polish is sat in front of me as we speak, then it's hoovering, shower and get dressed.
Will take kids to the park later too and finish paid for ironing.
Have lovely ones xxYou know your getting old when yougo to the pub sit outsideand admire the hanging basket
