Out of the 168 hours in a week i will have access roughly 60 hours of the car. The rest 108 hours Dad uses.

What matters is not "access" - the question is "who is the main user". It seems pretty clear that you will be the main user if your father has anther car to himself.

However as a second driver with Co-op i got a quote of £1500 but thats fronting and i dont earn ncb neither do i get added bonuses such as 3rd party cover driving someone elses car.

    You won't get that until you're 25.
Dad's "weekend" car only works if it's a Caterham or similar.

I'm thinking £1500 max for car, £2500 max Insurance leaving me £2,000 to pimp my car :D. Im only messing the £2k ill prob use for other stuff tax, mot, petrol...

Remember that if you pimp the car, you'll have to tell your insurers, and then your quote may go up further (obviously depending on what you are planning to do)

Just as an aside, you are referring to "your" car, yet earlier in your post you inferred it would be your father's car - if it is your vehicle, then your dad will be fronting (and you already know about that)!

As to your last post you will have to ask insurers as they all differ in their attitute.

My apologies if it seems that way. I'm just juggling with two possibilities; getting my own car or become a named driver on dads car and driving less making him main driver.

Have you tried admiral insurance?? We got the best quote from them as we are looking for insurance for our 17 yr old son who has just passed his test on a 1.3 'W' reg fiesta..... we tried him on his own policy with me and his dad as named drivers and had a very good price ....then we tried a multi policy as we are a 3 car family!!! the quote came down by a lot....just a thought if ur dad will need to insure his car ....it's so annoying ..i thought that insurance was supposed to be the same price for male and females now doesn't seem to b the case ...as girls the same age as my son have much cheaper insurance....and i know my son will not b out i his car everynite just razzing around town!!!! Good luck

When my cousin took out her first insurance, Tesco were the cheapest, it was a few years ago now though.
