Does limp home mode not mean exactly that?

ie, the car has closed down / limited its abilities as there is a fault somewhere, but the car can still be driven?

So, if the car can still be driven, then they are not 'recovering' the car?

Also, are there no mechanics closer?
Well obviosuly there are mechanics closer but I don't know or trust these mechanics.
The car can be driven at slow speed but I don't want to chance it, plus I would have to go down the A23! It felt like it was gonna die the other day.

He did tell me to disconnect the batter to try and trick it into coming out of limp mode to get me there but I don't know how to disconnect it!
I'll just have to chance it and if they wont take me to him, I'll see if I can pay him to come up here.

Unfortunately no, they are a "get you home" service. Doesn't hurt to be cheeky though!

His car has gone into limp mode, assume the main way to get home is on the motorway for example, it wouldnt be say to go on that at 20mph etc? If there is a fault with your vehicle, that is the entire purpose of breakdown companies lol.. to stop any further damage happening.

Just incase you feel like it for a laugh, theres the pedal trick.

Press the brake as hard as you can and the accelerator to the floor.
Turn on the ignition lights (position 2)with the 2 pedals still pressed. (dont try to start)
The service light should start to flash.
    Count the flashes.
If theres a slight pause, start counting again. i.e 10 flashes, short pause. 5 flashes, short pause, 5 flashes, short pause, 4 flashes gives 0554 error code. (random)
Cant remember, but it might only hold a max of 3 faults.

    Got the info from vauxhallownersforum.

Tried it on a zafira once and it worked fine.
