Vectra in 'limp mode' will RAC come out, AND take us to a garage?

As the title says, me car has gone into limp mode and I need to get it to my mechaninc which is about 25 miles away.
I have the relevant cover, but I was wondering if they would still come down because technically me car starts and drives....

Also if they will take us, will they be able to carry me and me 2 kids in the van?

Unfortunately no, they are a "get you home" service. Doesn't hurt to be cheeky though!

Actually they do, just looked on their website
    Nationwide Recovery

This extends your cover to include:
    • Transportation of your vehicle to your home or a single address in the UK
    • Transportation as above, for you and up to seven passengers
    • Transportation as above, if you are taken ill and there are no passengers to drive the vehicle
But will they come out of my car still starts??????

Just been recovered, lady said I could go wherever I wanted and could change my mind at any time as well.

Driver recounted a story about someone that requested to be taken to Halfords for a new battery. "No problem, but if that doesnt fix it, you've been recovered and your on your own".

Just an aside, I've needed recovered twice in 19 years of driving. Both times I had cover (only 3 years covered out of 19).
So going with my theory, breakdown covers jinxed. There will be no more.

Edited again to say he mentioned recovering cars with the management light on (discussion about old vs new)

I've had to call them out a few times over the years. Twice was when I was living miles away from home and literally knew noone.
I used to be with the AA, had that breakdown repair cover and last year, just before xmas my cam belt went and mashed the valves (I think lol) It cost me £560 to fix it as it was my mechanic that done it, but because he's not VAT registered they wouldn't pay out! Yet had I took it to a garage they would have probably charged me nigh on double that.
I'm with the RAC now but this is the first time I'm going to have to call them since.

Dunno about the RAC but the AA has always obliged with taking my car to a single requested location - normally my local garage but when one car was new, I asked them to take the car back to the original selling garage (100 miles away).

DKAM, if your car starts, could you drive it 2 miles (say to a local supermarket) and then phone them to come out? Pretend that it's gone into limp mode while you are out? (Yes I know that's technically fraud ...) Mind you, if they transport you and the boys to the garage 25 miles away, how are the three of you going to get home again?

It's where my Mum lives so if need be she can bring us home, it's the mechanic I always use, far cheaper than a garage and he is very trustworthy.

Does limp home mode not mean exactly that?

ie, the car has closed down / limited its abilities as there is a fault somewhere, but the car can still be driven?

So, if the car can still be driven, then they are not 'recovering' the car?

Also, are there no mechanics closer?
