Virgin mobile - blackberry problems

I'm hoping that a kind soul out there could help out?!

I've just bought a blackberry on a virgin mobile contract, and have tried setting up an email connection. From the setup wizard, i click "email set up" and then get to a screen that says "I want to use a work email account". From what I understand, there should be another option of "add another email address", but that isn't appearing

I'm obviously missing something in my understanding, and have tried the manual but it just keeps saying that I should have another option when I clearly don't!

any ideas?

Do you have the BIS added to your account? None of the Blackberry services will work without the Blackberry bolt on. It's generally an extra £5 a month but you'll have to clarify this with Virgin.
Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug). ;)

thanks MissKeith, to be honest I'm not entirely sure. On the website it says:
    Unlimited BlackBerry Messenger
    Built-in Wi-Fi
Unlimited email and 1GB Mobile Web
there's no mention of the BIS anywhere!

I'm so frustrated with this thing - I can't even work out how to connect to my wireless at home :( I feel like my mother when faced with anything more technologically advanced than a microwave :(

Seems like you do have it but it's not activated. Hm. At the top right corner if the screen, does it say 3g/edge/gsm in capital letters or small case?

it has "gprs" (lower case) then an antenna and then signal strength bars
directly below that there is "WiFi"

Right, leave your phone switched on and take the battery out for thirty seconds. Gsm should be in caps. If this doesn't work I would give Virgin a ring and find out why the Blackberry services have not been added to your account. Don't worry, you've not done anything wrong.

thankyou :) I've done as you suggested, but it's not made any difference - looks like another hour long call to VM is in order ! (i've spent 2 x 50 minute calls to them just trying to 1. buy the damn thing & 2. get my VM PAYG number changed to a contract one)

Virgin Blackberry internet Service is here http://virginmedia.blackberry.com/

Most service providers do a Blackberry add on for about £5pm. I know Orange, O2 and I think Vodafone do.

It is better to contact its customer service representative. They will know hoe to address your concerns. Some of the features should be activated by the service provider so better ask for help and i know they will address it properly. It may take some time but I know its worth your wait.

I just wanted to pop back on here to thank everyone again. MissKeith - you were absolutely spot on: seemed that the operator hadn't set up the account correctly. It's now in the process of setting itself up & i feel less like the TechnoFail that I felt like yesterday!
