I have just received a phone call, came up unavailable (usually international) on caller display, it connected and an indian lady told me she was from Global something calling on behalf of Windows and told me that my computer has downloaded malicious software and is sending information over the internet. When I asked which computer, she said "the one registered at your address" so I asked again which one, what brand is the computer, ip address etc and she said the windows 7 one, so I acted concerned oh no what do I do etc and she then told me they could provide software to cure the problem at £29.99 just need your bank details at which point I hung up.
Just a heads up to all.

Same thing happened to me yesterday.
The call came from a company called Alertsoft.
Again,Indian sounding lady, told me I had problems with viruses. There is no way that she could know this. It is a scam.
If anyone tries to convince you that you have a problem, just ignore them. There is no way they could know if your computer has a virus.
Alertsoft do offer services, but are using scaremongering to mislead you into buying their products.0 -
We've had about 4 calls now all claiming this, we now have a competition to see who can keep them on the phone the longest. My husband won when he ended up crying when they said his computer was infected!I don't know if I'm getting better or just used to the pain.

3 times a week without fail I get these. Depends how busy or what kind of mood I am in as to whether i play with them or not. If not i just tell them I have a MAC hang up if I am in the mood to wind them up I can usually keep them on the line for half hour atleast.
The best one after 45 minutes of having him on the line i simply said "I'm bored now" and hung up, the cheeky sod only phoned back and gave me a mouthful of abuse for wasting his time, "now you know how it feels" was my reply LOL.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
My partner was so fed up of these calls that during the last one he suddenly slammed a book onto the coffee table, shouted 'got the bu88er' and said that he had just shot a burglar! The Indian sounding guy carried on with his script only to be interrupted by my partner saying' I'll have to go - I have to bury this guy before the police find him'. Strangely we have had no more of these calls....0

Apparently this virus is spreading through the use of Facebook. I was on Facebook when my computer froze and brought up this Windows 7 One page stating that i had to pay $29.99 to get rid of the malicious software. I tried navigating away to download a free virus software programme but it wouldn't let me do this and because it was asking for my card details i suspected this was a virus.
I took my laptop to get a virus scan and was informed that they had lots of people in with similar problems and that it was spreading through Facebook. If you guys have had phone calls, i'm guessing you have your phone number on your profile...#27 £2016 in 2016 = £763.61
#42 £2 Savers Club = £160
*Savers Club not included in overall 2016 savings until the tin is opened and my estimates have been confirmed later in the year.0 -

well that blows that theory out of the water as my number on facebook is my mobile and they always call on the landline.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
I hate to say it but why post something like this again when there are already hundreds of posts with the same thing. Everyone is aware of this. How people have even 5 minutes to talk to these idiots on the phone is beyond me, i for one am far too busy!0
