3 detrimental change to contract?

I received this email, it was intended for my father but I got it instead ( this completely fooled the operator when I rang as they didn't know why I got it.. )
We want you to feel in control when using your phone abroad.
Everyone knows that it costs more to use your phone on holiday. We’d like to keep you informed about our charges so that you feel confident and relaxed.
You’ll get a free text alert for every £2.50 you spend on data. To make sure you’re protected from big bills we’ve added a data roaming price cap of £43, so that you can enjoy using your phone whilst in the EU, confident that you won’t be facing unexpected charges when you get home.
With our clear roaming charges, you’ll know exactly what everything will cost before you go – no unwelcome surprises.

It will cost you 36.6p a minute to call home
You will be charged 11.5p a minute if someone calls you
While it is free for you to receive texts when abroad, it costs 10.2p to send them
Data charges start at £1.28 per MB – that’s the equivalent of browsing 100 web pages

If you’re using an iPhone, Android or Windows phone, your data roaming is automatically turned off when you leave the country. To find out how to switch it back on (and information on data roaming settings for all our other devices), visit Three.co.uk/dataroaming
So whether you want to find a restaurant, browse local attractions or simply check up on your flight home, it’s now easy, safe and manageable.
Have a great holiday.
Thanks

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows if this is a change to the contract? Could this be used to cancel early due to a detrimental change to the contract? ( Ie, my mother lives in belgium and I often visit.. Has it changed to be more expensive? )

My current price plan is Internet texter 500..
Also, if this is a change, could someone please give me the old details/ costs?

Thanks for the help, and hopefully I've helped out other people. :)
Cheers.

Does sound like a change more a clarification in line with EU rules.

  • So... There is grounds to cancel a 3 contract under detrimental change?

I would agree with you, there is no mention of an increase of prices, simply a marketing message informing the user of the 3 policy when abroad.

    No........
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

    Its not a detrimental change.
its just saying what they charge for roaming, prsumably because its the start
of the summer and people will be startig to go away.

If you want to get out of your contract, wait a few weeks untill ofcom and
the comunications ombudsman has ruled on the sms delivery reports saga :)

But then again if you didnt object at the time you would have probably been
deemed to have accepted those new terms

Better contact the service provider of any thing you want with the contract because if you cannot contact them, it means you agree with the terms listed on the letter. There are certain things you need to clarify too so better contact them to the numbers they provide to be sure that everything will be fine.
