*update* Toysrus parking charge

We received a lovely(!) 'parking eye' parking charge through the post yesterday for overstaying our welcome in the Toysrus car park in Bradford. I wouldn't mind but we were genuinely trawling the shop with our two toddlers, up and down the lego and fairy aisles! We were totally unaware we'd overstayed the ridiculous 1 hour parking allowance. Who can possibly shop with pennybox money with two kids and only spend an hour in there?!
So they sent a £80 'parking charge'!
After reading the forums we sent parking eye a letter refusing to pay the exorbitant £80 'fine'.
Anyway I emailed Toysrus and a nice lady called us straightaway staying although the car park is owned by a landlord they will contact them on our behalf and ask them to waiver it. Whether it'll happen I'm unsure but it was good of Toysrus to actually give a c**p.
It might stop me completely boycotting them as I was going to prior to her calling.
Let's see what happens.
Has anyone ever fought one of these private firms and won?

***Received a letter from Parking Eye saying that the 'charge has now been cancelled' Yay. After hearing feedback from the parking forum it looks as though me getting in touch with Toysrus directly had the desired effect as appealing usually doesn't work.***

as you may have read, the general advice is to ignore them. by writing to them, you leave yourself exposed if they do decide to take you to court
    helpful tips
    it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
    their - 'owned by them'
    they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)

I took a lot of the advice into consideration on here and decided to go down the letter writing route as per the letter template on the main page. I'm not someone who'll rollover at a £80 fine but I'm equally not someone who has the ba*ls to ignore it completely.
  • Then you're foolish since they will then have your details and hound you further.

Just ignore it, you should read again the threads on the motoring section until you realise a) you owe them nothing and b) they are cowboys that prey on the stupid and ignorant.

Keep reading until you realise the above.

The Standard letter advice should be revised.
Writing letters is OK when you are dealing with honest reasonable people, not crooks, liars, cheats and conmen.
By contacting a fake parking Ticket company all you do is give them a hot lead to pursue victimisation, threats and intimidation upon you.
They are only 2 choices when dealing with these scamers, you either ignore them completely or you buckle and pay them.

Parking Eye wont take you to Court. I've had two invoices from them and only ever received one letter about each.

You should ignore them from now-on. These jokers have no right to fine you and their image-based threats are meaningless.

There is also no appeals process and any communication with them just indicates you take them seriously and prolongs their efforts to scam you.

Have a stroll to the parking board and see all the threads on these guys. Also the sticky thread that shows you the standard letter chain you can expect form them.
  • Having just visited our local READING Toys r us and spent £100 with them (have receipts etc), we have now had a lovely £75 fine for parking for too long in their car park. Nice set of photos to prove it.

    2hr limit

    time taken, 2.20 mins.

    OUTRAGEOUS.

They are going to revoke it apparently but I am so incensed that we are returning all the goods.

Never ever ever shopping there again.

What did the signs around the car park say about parking when you read them after parking there ?
  • Toys r Us didnt fine you. The contractor who they use to manager their car parks cannot even fine you - only a court can do that.

Ball it up and pop it in the bin.

    It is not a fine.
It is a reqeust to send parking eye some money.
Also, they don't have proof that you parked for over 2 hours, just that over 2 hours elapsed between you entering the car park and leaving it.

Why not just keep the goods and ignore parking eye?
