AOL to Orange....help!!

I amconsidering going from AOL which I have been on for £10 years....I am thinking about orange as I am about to get a new contrat with them on mobile and I usually pay £30 (cashback) deals.
HOw do I go about getting a MAC and how long will the transfer take from AOL. I am not tied into them and wondered if I have to give 30 days notice. I don't really want to be without BB access. Is this a probability. ?
I would like to get a phone through CPW or OSPS as have had good service from them before and would like the quidco money. I take it from other threads that I can take out free broadband the day after I take out a new contract if I phone orange direct. Anyone had any problems or positives??? Help me decide... AOL have offereed me £9.99 for silver as the best offer.
I would like to save money ...currently on £25 with AOL.
Thanks

We took out a 12 month Orange broadband contract when we moved house 3 months ago. Since then we have had frequent and repeated problems with emails not being delivered.
What happens is that spammers use the Orange servers to send spam, and then the receiving ISPs recognise that spam is coming from the Orange servers, so they put a block on them. The only long term solution is for Orange to improve their security. They claim to be working on this, but if you google 'orange broadband problems' or the like you will see that it's been going on for months with no apparent progress.
You (the legitimate sender) know nothing about what's happening, you don't even get a 'message undeliverable' warning. You have no way of telling which emails have been delivered and which haven't.
We complained to Orange and got a wholly unsatisfactory response. We decided to move and asked for a MAC code, which they eventually reluctantly gave us. They are now demanding the balance of the fees due under the 12 month contract. I have told them that they were the ones who broke the contract by failing to provide a proper service, and therefore we have no further liability. All I have had back is a stony silence and a barrage of automatic emails saying that they can't collect on my direct debit.
If anyone has a way of getting a reasoned response from Orange, I'd love to hear it. In the meantime my recommendation would be that if you need the emails you send to be reliably delivered, don't choose Orange Broadband.0 -
on the other hand, i haven't had any problems with ornage broadband and find the mobile + broadband package for £30/month to be excellent value for money
although i have had a few problems with my handset for the phone package, but that is nokia's fault........that said, i think it could have been handlded better by ornage.
anyway, as far as the broadband package goes it is fine/A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining and wants it back the minute it begins to rain.0 -
I've been on the free Wireless Orange Broadband since September and haven't had any problems whatsoever.
I moved from Tiscali Broadband, and rang them for a MAC code. (Tiscali provided it over the phone no problem). The MAC code was then valid for 30 days. This was provided to Orange, and it took about 10 days to switch providers.
There was no loss of broadband, one day I was using Tiscali to connect to the internet, the next I was using Orange (after running their setup discs, etc).0 -
Hi Orange seems to be fine. When the wireless router arrived I was setting it up and i got to a tricky bit where i was about to reach to the tech support and low and behold orange called me! It was a call to see if i recived the gear and if i wanted a hand setting it up! Wow! The guy was even from this country!
Some person said earlier about e-mail problems. I can't possible comment as i use another e-mail service but that might solve the problem for the future especially if you are thinking about changing isp. Saves the hassle telling everyone that you have a new e-mail.
Live box is pritty cool as well. You can set it up as a print server!
