  • TOn the radio show was a recently retired bank manager, he was saying that those people who claim back the PPI themself are only getting percentage of what they are really entitled to.

We have no idea how long ago "Captain Mainwaring" retired and most banks do not deal with complaints of this nature at branch level (if only because they have to give detailed returns about complaints to the FSA). And are you sure he has not started claims chasing since he retired (or was made redundant?).

The fact is that if you use a CMC you will only get all you are entitled to if you get no redress at all (i.e. you will get all of nothing). Any more than that and part of what you are entitled to will pay the CMC.

If you want ALL the redress you are entitled to then you must do it yourself, rather than paying hundreds, or possibly thousands, of pounds for somebody else to put two or three letters in the post for you.

Good for you, and dont forget to send everything recorded if you post,or try the telephone first.

Proof of Posting is free from the Post Office and since Royal Mail frequently does not bother to get a signature for Recorded Delivery is better because in the event of a dispute FOS will deem it to have been delivered two working days later whereas the lack of an RD signature is evidence of non-delivery. (In other words RD can be an expensive way of allowing the other side to prove they didn't get it!).

If you can, fax it as you will get an instant receipt. (Many computers have fax modems).
  • Claimline Legal UK charge a 12.5% fee. Add 20% VAT and that comes to 15% of the total. The "No VAT" comment is just an advertising gimmick.

Thanks for bumping up an old thread (from 2011) to tell us that..
  • We just used Claim line legal , and was disappointed in their efforts , they also made us refill forms in that we couldn't put anymore info on ( we didn't know anymore ) but they kept insisting ( with time limits aswell OR we owe a forfeit). One claim HAS gone through or so they say .
After this they kept asking us for more info on the credit cards we re-filled forms for 5 times and they still kept rejecting .
There has been NO info from the bank we're claiming from, they ( after we 'sacked' them) have now sent us a letter and a 'Paymant Protection Agreement' to sign , what do we do?
I'm so afraid of being charged a LOT .
