Flashing blue lights: should I stop?

You are so full of it that you should have a sign saying Flush and a cistern on top of you.
Just take it as read that you are a very inexperienced driver and admit you were wrong.
Honestly what with Woody and mikey this forum is like looking after a classroom of 5 yr olds.
You can just imagine bigjl doing frontline. Outstanding attitude, and obviously a quick grasp of the facts. :rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Well, f**k me.
I must admit I didn't read it like that, I thought they had meant the right hand turn lane.
Though why has nobody else pointed that out before?
Though reading the first post again, with the OP's description I still assume from the description given it is a DC with three lanes going into three with one for going right.
so you still wont admit you are wrong,,,which is what you have been giving the OP hassle for. If it doesnt have a divide in the middle it is a single carriageway, that is fact.0 -
Not interested in getting involved in the speculation about your job, but I have to take issue with this bit. Several examples have been posted of roads that are exactly as the OP describes, two lane single carriageways that widen to three lanes for the crossroads, all without any form of island or central reservation in place. There has even been an example posted of a single lane single carriageway that widens to 3 lanes for a junction!
If I understand correctly from your various posts on this forum, you work in the London area so I can understand why you would think this arrangement is impossible, but in the more rural parts of the country* this sort of thing does happen.
The OP also stated that they drove onto the wrong side of the road to let the police car past which, again, strongly suggests that this was not a DC.
6am: PLEASE post a Google maps link to where the junction is. No internet detective is going to come around your house based on such a post and it will put an end to a lot of the crap on this thread.
*LOL I never thought I'd ever be found describing Preston as rural.
Indeed Lum, I suspect that may lead to a certain blinkered viewpoint.
I have already admitted that I have read part of the first post incorrectly.
I suspect I was distracted by the usual smart !!!! comments arguing semantics, when they have quoted from the Highway Code for effect.
Personally I haven't read the HC in years.
And in all honesty have never felt the need to be able to quote it verbatin anyway.
The only people that I know that can are Traffic Coppers. And StJohns Ambulance.
Ask mikey and Woody though they will know more about StJohns than me:rotfl:0 -

You were in the wrong.
Live with it.
What is the next thing you are going to add to infer it wasn't your fault? That the local Starbucks had a sale on two Lattes for the price of one and the sign damaged you concentration.
You nearly got something right at last, just aimed at the wrong poster.0 -

I think you had better read my post again then.
I stated I read it wrong, then stated how I had read it, thus showing my mistake.
Why was I annoyed with the OP?
Well, how about them not knowing that when in the right lane the way to allow a car to overtake is to pull to the empty left lane.
By, the way, how many times have you been stuck behind some halfwit on the way to a 999 call with all the lights and sirens going but the pleb just plods along obliviously?
I doubt it.
Perhaps the level of frustration this instills may explain my annoyance with the OP and the insistance that they think the Police were at fault.
And it wasn't me that has changed the description of the place where it happened now was it.
No wonder the facts have been a little difficult to examine.
Though the above comments are more in defense of why I had thought it was a DC, why exactly didn't the OP just say it wasn't a DC?
Though I would still like to see this road, so come on OP, give us some road names, so we can Google it?
That will prove without a doubt who was in the right and who was in the wrong.
There will be no arguments then will there.
If there was a ghost island it may make a bit more sense. But it is easier to make a judgement with the facts in front of all of us.0 -
Come on strider, this is the best entertainment I have had in ages.
Yup, pretty much the way I look at it too. Though it does get tedious when they follow you about the forums, dragging down every thread you dare post in.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Jeez testosterone is high. Bigjl I think there's about as.much chance of you going on a blat as there is of the PM getting JSA, most of your comments about the police are wrong, and your ambo ones make me doubt you're an EMT of any kind...It must be accepted as a principle that the rifle cannot replace the speed of the horse, the magnetism of the charge and the terror of cold steel.

I'ts not the OP that's doing the whinging, His question in post#1 is simple enough to answer without trying to beat him black and blue as has happened here. He simply asked quote;
"Question: Am I supposed to stop when I see flashing blue lights? Is it OK to drive if I see that they can pass without problems?"
I fail to see how that lead to all that's followed.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Though come on OP, give us the road names so we can see this road for ourselves on GoogleMap.
I for one would like to see where the extra space for the right turn lane was created.
Not the OPs location, but here are 4 examples, 3 of which I have already posted that you probably never bothered to look at;-
Example 1
Example 2
Example 3
Example 4
